I hear so many atheists saying that God killed more people than anyone else. So does that mean they believe in God, but just hate him?

I understand the definition, I'm just remarking on the practice of it. Isn't that what atheists do with Christianity, ignore what it really is and just focus on the bad things people do in its name?

Some atheists here do express a lot of hate and contempt for something they claim not to believe in. To me, that seems like a waste of energy, but it's theirs to waste, I suppose.

But many simply do not believe, and lumping them all together as "God haters" is inaccurate.

Atheists don't believe in God. They don't say that "God" killed more people than anyone else, they say that more people have been killed in the name of God than for any other reason. If they talk about "God" killing people, then they're referring to what the Bible says. The Bible talks about how God is a mass-murderer, and they question why believers think that that is OK, and consider God to be a loving God.

You're way off track. When an atheist says "God has killed more people....etc., etc." he really means religious wars have killed more people than secular wars. Secondly, it's impossible for an atheist to hate God the Deity because every atheist knows with visceral certainty that God is imaginary. The atheist hates the IDEA of god because it does so much damage to people and to our civilization.

As for ignoring Christianity, I used to do that before GWB proved that Christians can't be trusted to act rationally when the chips are down. Just when we need cold hard reason and rigorus logic, the Big Christian whips out his silly Bible and does something really, really stupid. Never again!

No, atheists are showing that the god portrayed in the bible, koran, and other places is an obvious contradiction (and an obvious made-up, projection of people's egos). They present this god from the believer's foundation and they then try to show how these gods are incompatible with Love, etc. Therefore, these gods can not exist (no way a benign creator is responsible for the universe and all the suffering). It's why those who have had a direct experience of the real God reject these images as well --- because the real God can't have anything to do with form, this world, this universe, bodies, etc.

When atheists say that they mean that more people are killed in the name of God than are killed by anyone else. This does not mean that they believe god exists.

I am an Atheist and I don't believe there is a God. I am willing to review real evidence but I don't see anything around me to indicate there is a god.

If God does not exist he/she/it can't kill anyone. But then guns don't kill, cars don't kill, people kill.

If you believe the Bible God has killed many people and done so on several occasions.

You see I was born and raised Christian, I was even ordained in a Christian church. But, it stopped making sense so I looked deeper and it made less sense until I walked away.

The problem Athiests don't believe in God, is because of Science. They go by scientific evidence, but they do not recognize the "Unknown Force." Everything has a logical explanation,( but then again so does the unknown.) So, hense, "No God created this Earth, and therefore, I do not have to follow the guidelines according to the Bible." In my opinion, they don't hate God. They just don't recognize him, nor Jesus, nor the Words.

NO!!!! They would not be atheists if that were the case!!! They would be something else!!!

You must be confused. When atheists say that, they mean either:

1. Much violence is attributed to God in the Bible, which seems like it would be a cruel God to worship, or,
2. Much violence has been done by humans in the name of God.

No. An atheist does not believe in god therefore there is no entity to hate. We do question the personification of god. as being loving when the bible says otherwise. These inconsistencies are being pointed out that's all

Athiests do not say god has killed people, because they do not believe god exists therfore that would be imposible. They say that a blind faith in god superceding reason is the reason that many believers kill. God didnt' cause 9/11, a strong fundamentalist belief in God and false knowledge of his will caused it.

Do you hate the god that the 9/11 hijackers worshipped?

Your question presents an oxymoron common with atheists.
How can a non-existant God kill?
Those are just people who refuse to be accountable to an authority they do not agree with. Rather than atheists, they are merely rebellious idolaters, setting themselves up to the level of God.
But, there are those that deny God and are truly atheistic: denying God, and therefore heaven, and by way of course, denying the existence of Satan and hell also.
For them, life ends with their last breath, and so life on earth is as good as they will ever know.
