For me, the verdict isn't in yet on TV evangelists. No doubt, some appear to be charlatans, and we'll widely agree and disagree on which is which and who is who.
But, sometimes they make a lot of sense. Like, I'll listen to Mike Murdock (heard him?) and he is profoundly different from other TV evangelists. His emphasis is on wisdom, and I know he's spoken truth in a straightway that helped me make the connection between attitude and wealth, for example. Is he always right? Who is? Is his emphasis maybe too much on finances? Maybe.
But Christians sometimes seem to believe too often that poverty is somehow a virtue, and they support this notion with scripture. And maybe it's a misnomer. I think Dr. Murdock is helping to break up that notion, or at least balance it, or maybe just at least getting folks to think about it for themselves.
Personally, I think greed is wrong, but so is not taking care of your family and then passing it off as a spiritual virtue, or even more dangerous...passing off the financial shortcoming as God's will (ouch). Of course, Dr. Murdock connects tithing and offering to his ministry to your own financial well-being, and this giving is strongly encouraged. Yes, he'll pass the plate like most TV evangelists and all ministers, for that matter.
What does God want? Does He want our offerings and tithes? Will He bless us financially if we financially bless the ministry of certain TV evangelists? I don't know. I'm thinking, "maybe." But if there's any point I'm to make here, it's this: one should first know these things about God before he/she claims to know anything about what God Is or Isn't, IMO. And I think it's really good to try and find out.
One more note--sorry so long already--but there's some virtue/value, I think, in remembering Christ's suffering--and seeing it on the TV/movie might assist that remembering--That is this; when you think the world is coming down too hard, maybe feeling a little sorry for oneself, it's useful to remember what Jesus endured, and what He did for us.
This seems clear: something extraordinary needed to be done, and scripture declares He did that something, though He really, really wished He didn't have to, and even begged Father for a way out of it. But then He surrendered and allowed it. Really powerful stuff to contemplate and try to apply to our own lives, especially when things look grim.

The thing is...if Jesus is real, and what happened was real...it was a dirty, violent, bloody affair.
People are so detached from that kind of pain these days with pain killers and hospitals and what not...that it's hard to comprehend.
To appreciate the sacrifice, the sacrifice has to be fully understood. I think that's what they're getting at in a way, they're just doing it poorly.
But I wouldn't know, I'm a non believer and never watch televangelists.

Without reservations then. I think if anything I have not missed, Jesus taught us by his life that tolerance of pain, hurt and mercy to to peole who do noy know what they are doing.. I am certain that I won't be able to really tolerate such pain and hurt that Jesus did. But if I am not able to tolerate the made-up brute physical cruelty on the TV Screen telecst by some people who think that they are showing reality and are creative, I have not learnt anything from Jesuus. If Jesus would forgive those who inflicted such pain on to Him, then can I claim to be his true follower if I cannot tolerate this small things.

You are correct. They fleece GOD's flock. If you will step back and trust Jesus you will start to see a very strange reality where GOD is truly on the throne and people who want to be religious can do so all they want to by sending all their money to TBN. If people want a relationship with GOD through Jesus they will quickly find a Bible and a fellowship that teaches GOD's word that is a house of prayer and not a den of thieves. I have to ask you. Have you ever met a Christian that reads the Bible and loves Jesus who followed Benny Hinn? I haven't. Only people who want to see a freak show and not have to do anything for GOD.

Its not about being a christian, its all about being a human.
Its true that we have become cvilised, but or genes still carry the trait of brutality from our animal ancestors. We may become enlightened to any extent but the natural vindictiveness cannot be done away with.It resides in us in an inactive state,a mere stimulus can activate this instinct.
1.while beating up the child, animal instinct starts working in the person
2.wives are prey to their husbands' sexual and physical instincts.
3.students of their teachers'.
This list can go on but we cannot do away with it and enjoy acts brutality. But yes it has its limitations, once the limits are surpassed, the person is said to be metally ill.

What is wrong with seeing what Christ went thru for us, to save us? I see nothing wrong with remembering what Christ went thru and if part of that remembrance is see it depicted on t.v just to remind people what He went thru does not bother me at all. Every time I have seen the Passion of the Christ I can feel physically on my body the whip lashing at His body. Iam truly thankful for what Christ did for me.
