If this life has no meaning and it is what we make it, and this life is simply given to us to do with it as we please; then what does it mean if I decide to freeze to death tonight?

First of all, this life DOES have meaning. And if you believe in God your life isn't giving to you do do as you please.

And the whole freezing to death part. It depends on:
1. If you were saved.
2. If it was deliberate or accidental.

if you decide to freeze to death tonight it would mean you have chosen a very miserable way to commit suicide. If life, as you say, is given to us to use as we please; then why not use it to find your own meaning. It is the search for ones self and for meaning that makes life worth living. If you have found that life’s meaning is to freeze to death tonight then have fun. But wouldn’t it be better to just live?

There are countries in the Olden times who tolerate that when life for them is an embarrasment to the family. Suicide is common in Japan and even here in United States. While many religions would say that God is the owner of your life and you have no right to end it yourself.
No one can furtherly punish you after you die because you committed suicide but it is not really true that life is meaningless so you to end your life. The reason why there is free will is because you are expected to make your life interesting and with meaning. Nothing and no one must affect you with their cynicism. It is always in your will to live a meaningful life whether lavishly rich life or just a simple life. There are people who shuns material blessings for he enjoys living in austere condition and there are those who are happy to be donned with expensive clothes, expensive cars and mansions. Whatever state of being you are in, it is always your creative imagination that will give you the meaningful life.

Anybody can leave when they want!
(That's the whole concept of "free will"!)

That's what suspension bridges, gas stoves and 26th story windows are for!

As for FREEZING TO DEATH...
that's a different story!

As soon as your rational mind goes, the human instinct for survival kicks in and you would probably end up by surviving in spite of your original intentions.

The thing is...

If you decide to leave tonight, how do you know that you wouldn't have changed your mind by the day after tomorrow?

It means I won't get to email you. Others won't get to communicate back and forth. You are important to me and everybody out there and espeically to God! If you go out and freeze yourself to death, then you can't write that best selling novel, or become a great spouse, or shop til you drop for your birthday, or sit on the front porch and enjoy the summer breeze and the scent of night blooming Jasmine!

Email me. You can talk with me. We can get thru whatever it is that's buggin' you, ok?

You can't seriously believe that life has no meaning. You have a responsibility to yourself to take care of that body you live in. If there was no meaning, we wouldn't exist. We are here to live, learn, explore, improve, love, etc. I don't have to believe in a religion or a deity to know this.

It means you've lost hope for tomorrow. One thing that I've noticed in my 44 years on this planet, it's that life cycles through the bad times and back to the good again.. that's what gives us hope in the rough times.

Red, life can have meaning and purpose, and it is most certainly not given to us to do with as we please. God gave each one of us unique personalities and talents -- things that can't be replaced by someone else.

If you allow yourself to die or take your own life, you've just short-circuited God's plans for you. He wants good things for you, not death and destruction. Why not talk to Him and ask Him to show you what He wants for you and your life?

He will be there for you if you put your trust in Him and His love.

Death is our eternal companion. It is always to our left, an arm’s length behind us. Death is the only wise adviser that a warrior has. Whenever he feels that everything is going wrong and he’s about to be annihilated, he can turn to his death and ask if that is so. His death will tell him that he is wrong, that nothing really matters outside its touch. His death will tell him, ‘I haven’t touched you yet.

It means that you have taken your potentially good life and thrown it away! or rather froze it! We are all here on purpose. We dont know the reason(s) that God created us, but He did put us here to follow his will, and to spread His word. So, with that being said, please open your Bible and read a bit!
