before they give a smart-ass answer? I asked whether anyone knew if there was anything RENEWABLE in their car, and qualified it by saying "NOT recyclable". Recycling is an established process. This was to point out that we are (not so) slowly but surely running out of finite resources, and we'll do that well before any new coal or oil is reconstructed by the planet - if it ever is. Any comments on this?

Okay, I think I understand what you're asking/saying...
Recycling is man-made. For example, we use plastic to make soda bottles, and recycle it to make a garbage can. That's recycling. There are plenty of items in a car that are recyclable.
Renewal is a more natural process. Wood is a renewable fuel. We can chop down a tree and burn it for fuel, while growing a new tree. Trees are renewable, but by no means are you recycling trees when you burn wood.
So... what sort of renewable items would you expect in a car? As you wear out your floor mats, there's a new one growing in a factory somewhere? Ethanol is supposedly a renewable fuel, but it's yet to prove itself to be a net source of energy.
I have to side with you on the last point: whether you believe that our fossil fuel use is the cause of global warming or not, the fact is that we're going to run out of the stuff that's been driving our economies for the past century and a half, so we'd better find other sources of energy.

It would help if you asked a "smarter" question.

Renewable suggests a process that replaces what was / or is being used up.

And unfortunately - as well as the autos of today are engineered - they do not renew themselves.

We could stretch the point and say that the air conditioning uses a renewable process in that the same freon is used from out of the factory -- till when ever.

We could stretch the point again and say that the engine uses a renewable fuel - if we abandon the fossil fuel nonsense and go with the more reasonable methane / ethane deposits that are deep in the earth since formation as we've seen on Saturn's moon Titan.

Or we could really stretch the point and say the heat from the heater is renewable - by just opening the valve and turning on the fan.

But this is getting boring - I'd rather talk about earthquake as earthbound lightning. Or that tectonics is pure nonsense - that what we see geophysically is actually the result of the solar gravitational forces that place and hold earth in solar orbit.

Leather (or maybe cloth) interior, water and alcohol in the coolant, rubber in the gaskets. Leather (and some cloth, like cotton), water, alcohol, and natural rubber are renewable.
