Well... they way i see it, it is very unlikely. Taking into account that there's not a good infrastructure for it. Which means the country would have to invest too much money to get ready for it.
I like Asuncion, I live here. But the Olympics... well, let's get real, it would take a very dramatic change in the current situation of the country in order for it to even be considered as a candidate.

If even England has to make a huge investment for the Olympics to be held there, and it's still having a hard time, imagine what it would be like for Paraguay to try to come up with that kind of money. And with the current high tax evasion rate, it's very unlikely that money would come from the tax payers.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that.. I don't think Asuncion could host the Olympics that soon, maybe in a very distant future.

It would do a world of good for the city and the population. Paraguay is a proud little place which is suffering from the fact that it has been forgotten by the world. But if an opportunity like this came along, you'd be seeing the place up and trying their best like mad - and they can do stuff. I would not be worried about how it would go, as everyone would feel so energized by it, not to mention those who are sitting on bank accounts big enough to pay for it all, that you'd see things starting to happen with the speed of lightning. So, if the population's willingness to make it happen is of any value, I'd say it would be a definite hit.

I don't think so.
They need to build a whole olympic city and stadiums for that.
And Asuncion is not well connected by air to the US or Europe, wich makes things a little more complicated.

I think Brazil, Chile and Argentina are the ones with better chances.Still, I don't think they are interested at all.
Colombia too, except for the FARC, wich have destroyed the image of colombia in the world.
And Venezuela...I don't think that will happen if crazy Chavez is in power.
