These are just some thoughts/opinions of a fellow Soul...

To me, the Bible was written, as a guide, to open our minds to the higher reality of mankind; not to be taken so literally, as most do.

Thus, in order to accomplish this, it is necessary to confront our straightforward ideas of life, and provoke us to think, imagine, and entertain possibilities that are beyond our normal state of reasoning.

Those who believe without question, and those who question without understanding, are equally blinded by the seals and symbols that have been intentionally incorporated into the body of the sacred texts.

As the Church Father Origen warned us, the Holy Spirit inserted roadblocks in the literal word - roadblocks that inhibit both blind acceptance and unenlightened critique - and in recognition of this great fact, Origen taught that: "Scripture contains an unhistorical element inwoven with the history, in order that the worthlessness of the latter may drive us to seek the spiritual meaning"

These are just some thoughts/opinions of a fellow Soul...

To me, the Bible was written, as a guide, to open our minds to the higher reality of mankind; not to be taken so literally, as most do.

TOO BAD, YOU WILL MISS THE THINGS THAT GOD HAS TO TELL YOU BY THINKING IT IS NOT TO BE TAKEN LITERALLY.

Thus, in order to accomplish this, it is necessary to confront our straightforward ideas of life, and provoke us to think, imagine, and entertain possibilities that are beyond our normal state of reasoning.

YET, BY NOT TAKING IT LITERALLY, YOU ARE INDEED TRYING TO UNDERSTAND IT WITH YOUR OWN HUMAN UNDERSTANDING, WHICH YOU ADMIT IS BEYOND YOUR NORMAL STATE OF REASONING. HOW DO YOU MEASURE THE APPROPRIATE LEVEL OF REASONING NECESSSARY TO GET OUT OF IT WHAT GOD INTENDED?

Those who believe without question, and those who question without understanding, are equally blinded by the seals and symbols that have been intentionally incorporated into the body of the sacred texts.

GOD ASKS US TO BELIEVE, HE DOES NOT ASK US TO UNDERSTAND. THE SCRIPTURES SAY GOD'S WAYS ARE BEYOND FINDING OUT, YET YOU STRIVE TO FIND OUT THINGS THAT ARE UNFATHOMABLE TO THE HUMAN HEART AND MIND IN ITS NATURAL STATE.

ORIGEN'S CAUTION WAS TO UNDERSTAND THERE WAS MORE TO THE WORD THAN MEETS THE EYE, RATHER THAN TO SUGGEST THAT THE BIBLE CONTAINS UNHISTORICAL THINGS. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE.

i think that as a faith community, Christians would desire to have one authoritative version of The Bible which includes 66 books. I even have seen a Catholic Bible with no longer basically 7 extra desirable books, yet have 4 books interior the previous testomony all titled "Kings." in assessment to this, I even have seen a clean international Translation of the Holy Scriptures that's utilized with the help of Jehovah's Witnesses. instead of having 4 books titled "Kings", it had a million and a pair of Samuel and a million and a pair of Kings. interior the Catholic Bible, Almighty God is nameless; interior the recent international Translation, "Jehovah" is used. I even have additionally seen a version called "The Jerusalem Bible". in this version, "Yahweh" became used. no longer basically this. there have been extra desirable than 39 books interior the previous testomony. 3 of those particular books have been Tobit and a million and a pair of Maccabbees.

Yes, here is a "mind opener" as you say about peace, love, tolerance and understanding.

Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it. Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God. That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt. Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors. "The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him." (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT)

I used to think exactly the way you are thinking now and believe me, you are being deceived by Satan. That is exactly what he wants you to believe so that you ignore what the Bible says about "him" as well as about God. I learned the lesson in a very hard way and was thankfully brought back to my faith in God's word. Now, I have been made victorious over this world and it's deceptions because God proved himself to me by asking me this question. I don't think I will ever forget it....
"What do you want? You can't have it both ways. Do you want to be healed or do you want to believe your words instead of mine?" I made the right choice thanks to that message and now I am healed. His word lives.
