I like the one about making celebrity marriage illegal. Be careful what you suggest to them though, someone will take you seriously.

I don't know that your facts about the conservative states is accurate or not and that is beside the point. Divorce is not a good thing (and I was divorced and remarried). Although I know that my God would not want me to stay in an abusive relationship or one that involved adultry, I do think that we as americans have made it far to easy for someone to just opt out of a marriage because they are not being "fulfilled" or because they and their spouse do not agree on something. No fault divorce is an easy out so no one bothers to really make the effort anymore. No committment.

It's a pretty sad state of affairs when this is even a question. We shouldn't HAVE to make laws stating certain things to be immoral, when they SHOULD be dictated to be immoral by society.
Heaven forbid it ever come to that point.
Besides, divorce is, in some cases, TOTALLY understandable. For example, in cases of abuse, adultery, or complete changes in a person's character. As far as the latter goes, I don't mean a wife suddenly starting to spend more money, or a man going out with the guys once every couple of weeks. I'm talking about more extreme situations, like if my husband suddenly turned out to be a serial rapist or murderer, yes, I would have EVERY right to divorce him. Or if I suddenly started robbing banks, yes, my husband would have a right to divorce me.
I just think that divorce should be discouraged. When people take the vow of "Til death do us part," they should NOT be thinking, "or until I get tired of you, or until we decide to get a divorce."
I'll get off my soapbox now. You asked how I felt, I shared it.

The making of divorce willegal would not be preserving the sanctity of it, when one of the mates is repeatedly being disloyal.

I am part of a secular marraiage, and I feel religious people have no business telling me what to do. I feel so bad for gay people. Secular marraige should be non-discriminatory.

religious people don't really want a theocracy any more than anyone else does; politicians just make it seem that way as they play their games seeking power and position.
