Okay, let the thumbs down fly because I'm going to have to disagree with you and most everyone here. When I was younger I felt the same way but now after all the things I've seen I say the drinking age is too low. I've lived overseas and yes it is nothing for teenagers to have beer or wine at dinner or parties but they are not drinking to get wasted. In the states, we make a big deal out of turning 21 and becoming legal by going out and getting totally smashed. How many questions have you seen on Y/A of someone turning 21 and what they should do and the answers are go out and get wasted/ smashed or drunk? And would it be any different if the drinking age was 18 or 16? I think not. I'm not saying that older adults are any better when it comes to alcohol and maybe that is the answer. It doesn't matter what age you are, if you aren't mature enough to know when you've had too much then maybe you shouldn't be drinking at all.

USA - West Coast.
Drinking Age: 21
Stop checking ID: Supposedly when you're 25, but if you look younger they will continue to ask beyond 25. Personally, they stopped asking for ID at about 30ish.
However, the women I know like getting carded, even though they're obviously much older. I guess it's a vanity thing.

The drinking age in the US is 21, and that is in all states. It is actually determined by state law and not federal, but the federal government withholds highway funds for those states without a 21-year limit, so all states complied.
I got carded until I was 35!
