My hubby and I are debating which route to go. What are your opinions and experiences with either one???

I am 7 months pregnant with our 2nd child, we have a 2 1/2 year old boy and a girl on the way. My hubby doesn't want any more kiddos, and I am not sure either way... Of course being a female and having the mother instinct I would love to have 10 kids... But realistically, we can give 2 children a wonderful life where as 3-4 would be a little difficult financially... So really we don't need any more kids, but I am afraid that I will want another in a few years... But with a tubal, the decision to have another will aready be decided... same as with a vasectomy.. We are 23 and 24 years old, so I am wondering what your opinions are about it. I am scheduled to have a c-section, so it would be the best time to do it if I were going to... But which one is a better choice?? Why?? and do they hurt?? either one of them?? I just need outside help, as I kow this is a huge decision...

I am already having a c-section, so seeing as how I will be in pain for a while, and limited on activities, and looking at a 3-4 day hospital stay regardless, that is why I was considering a tubal instead of a vasectomy.. :)

It sounds to me that you are not really ready to give up the choice of having more children. What if it eventually doesn't work out for you and your husband? Are you willing to do a reversal that may not work? This is a decision not to be taken lightly.Usually they do not like to do tubal's until a woman is about 29.

Well if you want more children then I would not get a tubal. . .It must be hard to make a decision that you are done and no turning back. . .both can be reversed but personally that is not a good idea. Besides one day the financial situation many change and you can afford more children. If he really doesn't want to get snipped on you can always try an IUD so you don't have to worry about birth control. You are still young. . .I would wait. Then if you have one more kid and then decide to be done then you can do what you feel is right then. My husband and I plan on having one more child and when we are done (I probably will have to have a c-section as well) we decided that both of us would get fixed so there is no more guess work! Its a 50/50 thing for us!

The tubal ligation is by far safer in my opinion. I have known couples where the guy had the vasectomy, but wife came up pregnant anyway. I think your Doctor will do the tubal at the same time he delivers the baby. Do ask about it and good luck.

If you decide to do it, tubal is the way to go, since you're already going to be open. But you are pretty young yet, and if you think you might want more kids later, I don't think you should do either. Good luck!

If you are having a c-section it would be easier if you had a tubal while they were in there. He could have a snip done but why have both of you in pain?

If you want more kids late... don't do either... reversal is not always 100%..use some other type of birth control
