I have an old DSC-P71 and it took amazing shots of my friends out snowboarding. I started to get megapixel envy and upgraded to a Canon S70 but all the photos came out blurred. I sold that and bought a Sony DSC-P100 but that also took very blurry photos. So I went back to my old 3 megapixel friend. Now, the view finder has broken, and I need to get another digital camera.

It has to be Sony, as I have 2x 4gb memory stick pro duos, and I don't want to buy additional memory.

It has to take great action shots out of the box, and be small. I don't want to have to make a million adjustments, just switch it on and take amazing photos of my friends taking jumps and such.

Any advice on the N2, W100, W7 or older Sony digital cameras from snowboarders or skiers is much appreciated.

the best sony camera to take snowboarding is the Pentax W30. (sorry) since it's water proof.

If you are blaming all those blurry shots that you're getting on the camera- perhaps you should look what's standing behind the camera.

Great action shots are a tall order for a point and shoot, especially with a user that doesn't want to fiddle with settings. You can do it, but you really need to know how to pre-focus, how to make sure the ISO and shutter speed are high enough, and to correct for bright snow conditions.

The N2 is cool, but with it's touch screen- it may be hard to operate with gloves.

I'd go with the W series. At least it has a little optical viewfinder for when you can't see the display in bright sunlight.

some issues to notice approximately Sony: proprietary warm shoe. no longer a extensive deal, yet you could no longer basically run out and purchase any previous flash and assume it to artwork. the stabilizer is geared up into the physique, so ALL lenses are stabilized. The A700 is getting slightly long interior the the tooth, and gets replaced contained in here couple of months. no longer a huge deal, by using fact the fee is calling especially sturdy marvelous now while in comparison with while it replaced into the newest, ultimate type. The A550 is one heck of a digital camera, with all of the constructive aspects of the bigger boys with out the bigger fee ticket. It does not do video... great whoop. seems such as you have that coated already. it truly is far less complicated to discover lenses and upload-ons etc for Nikon than it truly is for Sony. it is the only real difference. The Sony cameras are each bit as sturdy by using fact the Canon and Nikon kit, regardless of the fan boys that have in no way tried them. I shoot all 3, plus Fuji. That A550 is the equivalent of the D90 in each little thing different than video high quality. i'm going with an A550 myself... however the Lord Exchequer (my spouse) with politeness jogs my memory that I purely offered my A300 slightly over a 300 and sixty 5 days in the past, and that i don;t prefer any new toys yet. Ha! What does she know! EDIT: hiya somebody!, thank you for yet another fanboy respond. here's slightly tidbit of information on your edification: SONY makes the sensors in those "extreme" Nikon cameras. there is greater to the photographs international than Canon or Nikon, yet you those that purely offered your 1st digital camera final week does no longer know that. it truly is like announcing "i offered a Chevy Malibu, and which ability it truly is the wonderful motor vehicle in total international". it truly is as pompous and stressful because it sounds.

A great site to compare features is

Select memory type 'memory stick' and you'll get cameras compatible with your memory.

Don't get hung up on megapixels, anything over 6 mp in a compact camera doesn't help the picture.
