I don't believe in Yahweh, the Judeo-Christian deity because I:

1. are afraid to believe. False, I believe in God but not the Abrahamic god

2. are angry with God. No way

3. are too stubborn to submit to God's will. God does not want me to submit to anything

4. misunderstand scripture. No, I do understand their scripture and it's frightening

5. adhere to another faith which, by definition, is false. I adhere to another faith but I wouldn't call it false

6. adhere to another faith which is simply an "alternate route to the same destination". Which destination?

7. don't understand the concept of God. Well I certainly don't understand how they like their concept.

8. haven't had, realized they've had or accepted they've had a spiritual connection to and personal experience with God. I've experienced God

9. can't will themselves to believe in something they know to be logically impossible. As in the bible? Yep, true

10. haven't been exposed to the idea of "a deity". I've been exposed

11. anything I forgot (provide details) I learned a lot about many belief systems (and non belief) and decided which made the most sense to me. Christianity was way down on the 'makes sense' list.

1. False
2. True for a few people, not most. (My uncle became an Atheist after being angry with God for taking away his father, who committed suicide).
3. False
4. False
5. False (I think the adhering to another faith part could be a true reason, but I mark this false because I don't think that other faiths are false by definition).
6. True
7. True possibly for some (I think some who reject Yahweh might not reject some other concepts of God, such as impersonal Brahman, if they knew more about those concepts. Others would reject these other concepts as well. So it's only true for some).
8. True (I'd say that they have not had an experience which they choose to describe as "God.")
9. True
10. True possibly for some, (but I really can't think of anyone who would have not been exposed to this concept)

Because it's not about whose beliefs are true/false; any more than it's about whose favorite flavor of ice cream is true/false, or whose favorite book./movie/song//poem/artwork is the "only true" one. We as people are all inherently different. We have different tastes, thinking processes, priorities, attractions... the list goes on and on. There is no way everyone could ever have the same religion. Look at Christianity - even within it, there are so many radically differ net interpretations. Christianity does not work; it is incompatible with my mind and soul. In my opinion and observation, it completely contradicts logic, nature, spirituality and everything else. To me, the whole salvation/damnation situation is not something that a kind and just being would devise or allow (I'm trying to put it nicely). Other aspects that I cannot accept are the devil scapegoat, the "only one true" book/prophet/anything, the notion that only certain books/places/people are sacred, the idea of a kind/just being micromanaging people's behavior while wholesale atrocities go unaddressed... the list could go on and on.
