Easy. To numb pain. Emotional pain. People who cannot handle their emotions/problems or get overly emotional about things they shouldn't, use all kinds of things to escape. Drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, etc. Whatever floats your boat. But when the drugs wear off.....not only are the same problems still there....now they are worse, so you use more drugs, it gets worse so you use more drugs.....and on and on. That's how you get into that vicious cycle.

I believe it has to do with the type of drug. Hard core drugs that really *** people up are bad. People start doing them because of the people they are around. I bet you wouldn't sit on your couch and say I'm going to do meth to see what it is like. Someone will talk you in to doing it. Other natural drugs such as marijuana and mushrooms I don't believe to be that bad. Marijuana helps people with stomach problems and joint pains. It is a very relaxing drug that I believe if handled correctly should be legal. Mushrooms aren't really a drug that someone is going to be taking 24/7. Its more of a drug you do to let loose and have a good time with friends. Though mushrooms are extremely bad for your spinal fluid, but that doesn't matter to people who have addictive personalities. Either way you can’t get a right or wrong answer to this question. You will have people that absolutely think all drugs should disappear and then you have druggies answering questions. Personally I think that marijuana should be legalized. When you get to the point of being to stoned to properly function you will fall asleep. You can’t OD on it you can actually smoke yourself sober and people who tend to be high tend to be in better moods.

Peer pressure, an escape, to fit in, all silly reasons it would seem, but in certain people the temptation becomes uncontrollable and they give in. It's hard to understand unless it happens to you first hand.

Peer preassure. They try it once because it seems to end thier problems or a while. So if it works once they think it'll work again so they keep using until they're hooked.
