Add baking soda or Epsom salts to your bath, or make a paste of either of these and apply it to the rash.

(1) Try running very hot water on the infected spot for a very long time - it will start to itch like crazy - let it do so and keep running the hot water on it - eventually after a few minutes, the itching will stop. You should be itch free for several hours.
(2) Do NOT scratch it - it will never go away if you do
(3) Take off and bag up and throw away every stitch of clothes you have been wearing since you got infected. Also remove the bed sheets and pillow cases from your bed and toss those out as well. Buy all new clothes and bedsheets and pillowcases.
(4) Wipe down and clean all the chairs and sofas you have been sitting in with cold water and clean cloths. Toss the cloths out when done.
(5) Look for the following products and try these:
tecnu
CalaGel
Rhuli Gel
(6) Get a doctor to prescribe one of these for you:
prednisone
Medrol Dosepak (medroxyprednisolone)
Decadron (dexamethasone)
Best bet is to get them as a shot rather than pills
(7) Put on a mud pack to draw the poison out. Leave on for several hours. Rinse with COLD water
(8) Only take COLD showers - this helps to remove the poison from the skin - remember to toss out all towels you use after taking a shower
(9) Aloe Vera and Mugwort are supposed to be effective on it

I use to get poison Ivy regularly each summer when I was younger. I found out by mistake one day that when taking a shower, adjust the temperature of the water as hot as you can stand it for a few seconds on each area. I would get at least 12 hours of relief from the itch that way, even without using any calamine lotion or hydrocortizone (sic). I use this technique today for any kind of itch. I discovered this method over 50 years ago, but heard a similar report on one of these doctor talk radio shows a couple of years ago, stating that the sensation of heat tricks out your brain to supply natural whatevers in your body to protect your skin from the heat, but it also deals with the itch. Try this method before voting on the best answer.

There are not many more options. Try not to irritate you skin with soap and showers, try a lotion or creme that contains cortisone, try taking an antihistamine such as benedryl, and you can also apply an oatmeal paste on top of a cortisone creme. Otherwise, the doctor can prescribe something like prednisone if the itching is intolerable.

Try a oatmeal bath as that will help out with the itching.
But take some benedrayl to help with the itching from the inside to keep you from scrathing.
I have found at walmart they have good sprays to use for posion oak and posion ivy. Try some it does work.
