I have seen some pretty hateful stuff on both sides. I cringe when Christians take the bait and lash out without thinking of how they look (or sound) to those who are genuinely asking for dialogue. I pray that the ones that say they are Christians would speak the truth in love and just ignore the hurtful and sarcastic and ridiculous questions posted by bored teenagers. I know that some who post are just having a little fun with some friends who happen to be atheists and that they know each other, but some people are just shocked by the name-calling. It does nothing for the cause of Christ. Just my opinion.

I agree. I think one starts and it gets the rest going...Good point. What am I doing here arguing with people who couldn't find their way out of a paper bag????...
I've never seen Christians post the kind of hateful answers in the morning that I see non believers post in the afternoon....
think I'm about finished here.

I don't see any haters. I see a lot of 'disrespectors' however. What I find even more curious is that you seem to be very focused on the disrespect you receive from those who don't think as you do, but oblivious to the disrespect THEY receive from those who think as YOU do. I would hate to think that you could be blind to the hypocrisy revealed by this, but there it is.

Actually, I have the opposite view. I imagine that people who work for their living are getting off work and going on-line. I think GWB's Presidency has been a wake-up call for thinking people in America. We used to be polite and perfectly willing to allow Christians their superstitious fantasies. Now we understand that the world is far too dangerous a place to allow the least able among us to run the show. Decades of supressed anti-Christian hostility are rising to the surface. Just because freedom of religion gives you the right to believe any damn fool thing you wish, that doesn't mean thinking people are required to keep silent while you force your "values" on the rest of us. What you're experiencing is an anti-Christian back-lash against Creationism (which seeks to destroy our schools), against the pro-life movement (which uses the asinine assertion that a fetus is a person to deny women control over their own reproductive systems) and against that evil Christian idiot in the White House who started an unjustifiable war that reduces our brave soldiers to tools of his evil ambition. Frankly, life just got a lot harder for those who wish to impose their ignorant values on the rest of us and I couldn't be happier.

There are people with an ax to grind. Maybe they have been hurt by people of faith, clergy, family, etc. We should pray for them.

I dunno.. it seems to go in cycles.. the christians are hateful in the morning, and the atheists return in kind at night on here.
Perhaps if both sides could be a bit more mature, we could have some meaningful dialogue.
