Average fighter who fought a way out of his prime Ali to make his name known. Even though he was champion he got walked though by Tyson less than a year later. He also got dropped kicked by Larry Holmes that was very funny. Bottom Line an average fighter with little spark of a career.

With a victory over an old Ali, I'd say Berbick was a mediocre champion. He was a "lesser" champ. Not bad but not great. Good.

Give Berbick this: when Tyson came to take his title, he stood and fought for as long as he could.

he was an average fighter in a poor era for heavyweight boxing, which allowed him to have more sucess. if he were around today, i think he would be a contender, maybe even a champ, but he is hardly an all-time great

if he would be a contender today i know that mike tyson walked through him like he wasn't even there, therefor tyson would be able to compete with any heavyweight today
