Yes! Hear them say it is an emotion, we can "feel" it.
Believers "feel" the presence of God!

Nope... Can't see it. Can't touch it

However, love is an emotion that requires a reason to be expressed and an object for that expression to fall upon...

If we replaced "love" with "fear," for the purpose of answering your question, and asked a parallel question of whether fear exists, the answer for each question, of love and fear, would be the same, wouldn't it?... "Yes" love exists and "Yes" fear exists.

Now consider this: Fear is often unfounded... We may emote that there is something real to be afraid of, isn't this true? ..and we may, as a result of our feeling, recognize our need to express fear only to find out that what we thought we feared wasn't actually real... Likewise, we may feel a love for, or from, or of "something" ... however that "something" may turn out to be "nothing," just as it was with the case for fear; and, isn't this also true?

So the answer to your question is clearly: "No" it doesn't mean that love doesn't exist... however, it is just as clear that it also doesn’t mean our love feelings are always an accurately expressed emotion nor does it mean that our love is always correctly measured as being 100% real.

Ha ha.. I've just realized an irony here, and it's something I haven't considered in the past. (Thanks for the question.)This is perhaps the one and only condition when I can agree that the statement "God is love" actually makes any sense - considering the statement this way, allows that the "love of god" may just be a falsely placed feeling just as the entire idea of god is a falsely deified idea.

I can feel the sensation.

I can witness the chemical reactions occuring in the body.

I can measure the electrical activity in the brain, and determine which parts of the brain actually play a role in the feelings of love.

We also have tons of research that shows how the emotional feeling of love can be synthezied with chemicals, and how it can even be nullified with drugs.

Are you going to break out the "I can't see air" argument next?

Edit:

I get a thumbs down for stating scientific facts. Yup, that sounds like the theist thing to do; hide all evidence that contradicts your ignorant notions.

As a matter a fact you can. You can measure changes in the brain based on it. You can do the same with pain and most emotions. You are just a series of electrical and chemical reactions, and there are measurable physical changes associated with it.

Love is a concept. Any concept can exist. Concepts are not physical objects.

Yes, through brain scans, we know what chemical is released through physical or emotional attraction.

Love, just like hate, passion, lust, happiness, and all emotions are measureable in the brain and clearly identifiable in color brain imaging. Emotions and their electrical components are also measurable in EEGs. There is plenty of physical evidence for emotions.

No evidence for god (still).

love is just an electro-chemical reaction inside your brain resulting in the release of some sort of chemical that makes you feel good. at least love is explainable

That is one of the weakest arguments I have seen yet. Love can be demonstrated. It is reproducable. It is part of our psychology, an emotion. The bible is a stupid old book! A BOOK!

You feel an emotion, and love is an emotion.

If your god is an emotion, it means he/it is sometimes not present.
