when i was a kid growing up, my dad said there's a sort of format to praying.... you thank him for all of you blessings first....then you might chit chat about your day..... ask for forgivness...... ask for things for you family/friends.... then ask for things for youself. but the format is only to REMEBER the THANK!!! so many times we forget to thank him for the numerous things that are either expected or the norm for us. when so many others think having these blessings would be like hitting the lottery.

but me personally i thnak him first for many things, and the things i as for, are to become a better person, to be more loving and helpful, to be more patient and a better listener. for my family to be happy healthy and safe. to find a great meaning in my life and to insire other's to do the same. i also pray for a stronger realtionship with the lord, and to not let it fade away.

Absoutely. Recurring themes for me include safety, good health, happiness, knowledge. I pray in good times and in bad, when I need God's strength and when I already feel strong. There is no right or wrong prayer.

Mostly for grace and peace within myself. To understand other people better- so that I don't get so worked up and/or angry when I disagree with someone or something.. the Serenity prayer's a good one to some it up.
-God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.....
no, i've never been in a 12 step program, i just find the prayer peaceful and helpful.

Everything - I thank God in prayer.
I seek forgiveness in prayer
I pray for others
I pray for myself
More things are wrought through prayer than this world dreams of.

The Lord's prayer is a great patten for prayer.

I say the following in my five daily prayers:

[1:1] In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
[1:2] Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
[1:3] Most Gracious, Most Merciful;
[1:4] Master of the Day of Judgment.
[1:5] Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.
[1:6] Show us the straight way,
[1:7] The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.

My prayer is constant. I consider it a conversation. My way of communicating with God. So everything! I tell Him everything. He's my Savior and Redeemer, as well as my Best Friend.

Always forgiveness of my sins, a long healthy life and to keep my 2 girls healthy and safe and with me so I can watch them grow and have children of their own. This is something I never had, my father ( who raised me and my 2 sisters when my mother decided she did not want to have a married life with children) passed away when I was 25 - I so badly wish he were here physically with me and my girls!!!!!
