Yes. I've been insured with both. I was with Geico, switched to allstate, switched back to Geico (only because I stopped worked there), and then switched back to Allstate. WHY? Because Geico doesn't cover anything, they don't have GAP insurance, they don't have Accident Forgiveness, they don't pay claims that their customers aren't responsible for like Geico does.

DO NOT GET ALLSTATE.
Geico is vastly superior. You are far more likely to get sued over a claim with Allstate than with Geico. Even though the insurer will pay the litigation costs, getting sued is still a huge pain in the rear! If you're considering these two companies only, get Geico -- trust the caveman and the lizard before you trust the smooth-talking "ex-president" from 24. "we'll screw you up the a##, that's Allstate's stand."

Geico has an excellent reputation for having great rates and paying claims on a timely basis. Allstate does not! I would rather go without insurance than ever be insured by Allstate!!!!

Keep shopping. You can easily beat the rates of both Allstate and Geico. Talk to an insurance BROKER. They deal with many insurance companies, not just one, so they can place you with a company best suited to your insurance needs, and at the lowest price. Look for them in your telephone Yellow Pages. They are usually referred to as "independent agents". Good luck.

GEICO will drop you for ANYTHING ! They dropped all of their customers who owned radar detectors until the courts said they couldn't. Allstate pioneered the aftermarket parts business to save themselves money by offering inferior parts. I had and liked Erie. Low prices, great service. I just had a claim with Progressive and they REALLY SUCK! REALLY!

Both are expensive. You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.
