I'm looking to build or demo a solar oven for an upcoming event (in August in California, so I'm sure lack of sun won't be an issue). Anyone know how long it takes to cook say, burgers and veggie burgers? Can you lease them or demo them from anywhere? I'm totally new to the solar cooking experience.

Definitely build your own. There are many websites with great ideas. Here's the simplest one yet. I built this in 20 minutes and had baked potatoes done to perfection.

Yes, i had some experience with solar BBQs,the result is very positive, choosing one day with good sunshine, taking out the portable solar cookers, also called solar kitchen carriable, and put them under the sun, put any foods that you would like to eat in the solar cooker, after about 20 minutes, the food will be Ok to eat, delicious and wonderful meal!
