If you aren't looking to do anything drastic or outrageous to your eyebrows, then let her know that. Explain that you just want to eliminate the slight unibrow and tidy your brows a bit.
You can also ask if she'd be okay w/ taking you to have a professional shape your brows to make them neater & agree to let you pluck to maintain that shape. (BeneFit boutiques or at a beauty salon.)
Maybe she'd like to have her brows done too and you both can learn something new together.
Here are 2 articles on how to groom your brows:
http://www.oprah.com/omagazine/200302/omag_200302_brow.jhtml
http://cosmeticscop.com/learn/makeup.asp?ID=175
BTW, you shouldn't feel pressured because everyone in your grade does it. You should only do it if you want to do it and feel the need to do it to look a little more put together.

lol just do it. chances are she won't notice anyway. I started plucking when I was 13 and believe me, all of a sudden you look so much older and prettier! for the first time get a professional to do it at a spa or something, and then just follow it up every few days by plucking with slanted tweezers. Don't pluck the top side of the eyebrows or they will grow back in thw wrong way, and waxing doesn't last as long.

i was in the same situation a year or so ago. but she eventually let me pluck them. you should try to reason with ur mom. if you give her good reasons then maybe she will agree to let you. maybe she is afraid that you will over pluck them and look cheap? because thicker eyebrows are the trend ryt now and the thin kind look gross and not natural. If that is what she is worried about, tell her that you wont overpluck and if you do, you have the ryt to be grounded. I thihk that that is a pretty good deal. she gets what she wants (reassurance) and u'll get what u want (nice brows). PS DONT EVER WHINE! this will make u appear younger in ur years and thus make her say no. appear reasonable and adult-like thats the way to go

No your not too young, if you want to make a change in your appearence for better self esteem, go right ahead. But the beauty on the outside isn`t everything all that really matters is the inside. Maybe you should try to get her to pluck them for you somehow. If I were you, I would just get them waxed by a professional, they always turn out perfect but a bit of pain also comes into the picture x] Good Luck

Designate a good time to talk to your mom. Remind her that what she says and thinks is important to you and you love her but the fact is you are really self conscious about your eyebrows. You can suggest that you'll pay for it and that her input would be very helpful. Maybe remind her that she said that you could do something about it when you were 12 and now you are 13 and are ready for the responsibility. It is always better to start any important talk with praise and the fact that you haven't taken things into your own hands shows that you respect her wishes and that you love her...Or ask her what you can do to show her that you are responsible and ready....Maybe a good compromise would be that you just tweez or wax just between the eyes...Good luck

I know how you feel. I was the girl with the thick eyebrows in school, too. I did not begin to pluck my eyebrows until I was 13 and in 7th grade. I did it because all my friends did it at the time, but after that, I did it for myself because it made my eye look more open and shaping your eyebrow makes a frame for your make-up.
If you really want to impress your mom about this, tell her you'd really like to have tweezed brows, but you don't want to mess it up and ask her if she would pay for threading treatment.

That is the normal age to start and it's better to start learning now than it is in high school. If you practice now the you can perfect it by high school and no one will make fun of you behind your back. Trust me I have had girls in my school teased because of their eyebrows and mustaches. You don't want to go too thin cuz that looks just as weird. just pluck the stray hair and don't pluck above your eyebrow. I she is worried about you messing up then have her show you first. If you need extra help on your own draw a thick line with eyeliner on your natural eyebrow and pluck around it. Like a guideline.

Well you should listen to your mom. I know its tough at your age but the thickness shouldnt be as big a problem as your unibrow, for that Id tweeze a few hairs every other day and she may not even notice! For when you do start tweezing, NEVER tweeze on your topside! Only the bottom, its more natural and after time you can shape them to what you want.
Good luck! Try talking to your mom again.

I started doing them last year and i am almost 14. I never pluck them i wax them it doesnt hurt as much. I only pluck the middle. if you want to do them tell ur mom that you wont do them too much just so they are not as thick an so you dont have a uni brow (i go to the salon to get them waxed)

Just explain to her that you are serious about this and a unibrow may get you picked on by other kids. Tell her how other girls your age already tweeze or wax their eye brows. Hope this helps, I have the same problem and I have had to wax since I was your age.
