You can make a sophisticated ponytail by wearing it low, wrapping a section of your hair around the elastic and securing it with a pin. You can also use a ribbon for a touch of whimsy.

Hair bands are in this season. Plain thin ones are very classic. Or you can use a scarf for a retro '60s look. You can embellish plain ones with hot glue and buttons or beads for a casual or evening look.

You can make your hair into a neat bun. For a plain but finished look, pin down strays w/ hair pins that have tortoise shell on one side. (Goody makes them.) For a dressier effect use hair pins w/ pearls or rhinestones.

For a casual look, make a messy bun or chignon.

You can braid your hair & wear the braid down. Or you can loosely braid your hair & create a bun.

Afterwards, apply a glossing/smoothing serum, Kiehl's Silk Groom or jojoba oil to tame your hair and keep it smooth.

BTW, you can braid your hair after shampooing and let it dry. Take out the braids and you'll have a loose wave/crimp that's perfect for a beachy, summer look.

The April issue of Allure has a great article about 3 updos w/ instructions and diagrams. InStyle is a good magazine for hair style ideas too.

you should get sideswept bangs, and wear your hair in a funky, side ponytail with little wisps of hair on the opposite side the bangs go hanging down ;)
