U.S. Army 1991-1995. I joined because I was sick of doing the college thing. I also wanted to travel and see the world.
I was a 71L F5, Administrative Specialist with an additional skill identifier of Postal Operations Clerk.
My first duty station was Camp Humphreys South Korea. 66th AG Company Postal 2nd Platoon.( I worked in the Post office on Humphreys.) I had the best time of my life. Going down range and drinking jungle juice. Anyone who has been there knows what I'm talking about. After a year in Korea, I was sent back to the states and was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, 224th Military Intellegence Battalion (AE) Savannah was an awesome town and I served with some of the best people in the Army. Worked in the Battalion S-3, Mission Ops and Training section. After 2 years at Hunter AAF, I got sent back to Camp Humphreys and got out in July 1995. I will always miss being in the Army.
My Basic Training was at Ft. Jackson, SC, AIT was also on Jackson. Met great people in the Army and had lots of good times.

Best of Luck to you in the future. You will never regret joining the Army, I guarantee it!

Army, 1986-1999. Gulf War I.

I remember sitting around a tent with some of my comrades after the cease-fire, boiling water for coffee over an M-2 burner, and saying:

"If we leave here and Saddam is still in charge, we'll have to come back within five years."

I was wrong by seven, and that's only if you don't count the constant Iraqi cease-fire violations and a couple Clinton cruise missiles in the meantime.

I am a college graduate. I voluntarily enlisted in the Army because I wanted to. I spent time at Fort Jackson, Fort Lewis, South Korea, Fort Sill. I served in various artillery units.
My best assignment was in Korea. I drove the Donught Dollies around. One of them became my girl friend for a while.
I got out in 1968, after serving three years. MLK, Jr. was assassinated, and I had to undergo months of riot control training. I decided that was not for me.
Good luck on your career.

U.S. Coast Guard

1988 - 1994

I joined the Coast Guard because the Marines would not let me serve as a Medic in a combat position (woman).

I was stationed in Washington state and Alaska. God, I loved Alaska.

God Bless and take care of yourself out there.
