If you are an atheist, or of another religion, it simply means that you don't share my religious beliefs. I'm not really into demeaning another person's choices by calling their personal beliefs "worse" than some other belief system. Worse? Not necessarily. Just different.

In MY opinion, what matters is that you embrace whatever makes you happy.
As far as believers of various religions are concerned:
One of the fundamental beliefs held by Christians is that no one can truly be an atheist, because they are of the opinion that the knowledge of "God" is instilled in all living beings. Another Christian belief is that following a religion that doesn't worship the "One True God", the "Abrahamic God", "The Father who sent His only begotten Son to save us from our sins" and then sent "His Holy Spirit" (The Comforter), is to deny the very knowledge of "God" that was, according to Christianity, "breathed into" mankind during creation.
Based upon the above information, I would think that the average Christian would view an atheist and someone of another religion as being equally "bad", because they are both in denial so to speak and turning their backs on "God".
My memory of other religious beliefs is a bit rusty at the moment, so I can't really offer an opinion regarding how those of other religions view this matter.
Also note that, while Judaism, Islam, etc..., worship the "Abrahamic God", many Christians feel that these religions are as "bad" as others since these religions aren't of the belief that Jesus is the Messiah (the "Son of the One True God"). The reason why many Christians equate this with being of a non-Abrahamic religion is because, according to Christianity, to deny the "Son" is the same as denying the "Father".
But, like I said, as far as *I'm* concerned, what's important is that people do whatever makes them happy.

Since Merriam-Webster's online dictionary states that a religion is "a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith", then atheists are indeed religious. We believe ardently that there is no god. Remember kids, reading is fundamental. I don't believe that there is one right religion, there is only one right for you, the individual. So it's worse to be something you don't have faith in, and it doesn't matter what religion you are or if you aren't religious at all (that's a shout out to all my agnostic friends). As long as you are true to yourself, it's all fine with me.

Well neither is worse or better then the other or me or anyone else. As a Christian I wish all people were Christians, of course. But that ain't going to happen.
My only problem with any other person is how they try to change our history and our Constitution to fit their agenda.
And claim that our country is not Christian based. And I won't go though all the facts that prove that it is.
Funny how many of them disclaim Christmas but gladly receive presents and get paid to be off that day. And they are continually raving on about a God they they claim is non-existent. Go figure.

It depends on what the person's religion is. If this is directed towards Christians then they will say that being an Atheist is worse.

I doubt there is a consensus about that question between religious people, so you'd have to ask individually. But if you want an opinion I know of one person of whom we can all agree he's religious : Ben Laden is told to have said that if he had to choose between Bush and Clinton, he'd go for Bush, cause at least he believed in a god.

depends on the religion
to ME, I think it is worse to be a Christian than an atheist because at least the atheists aren't practicing idol worship
but I think that it's better to be a Muslim than it is to be an atheist because the Muslim religion is one of the religions that is completely in line with the 7 Laws of Noah, which is what all people who are not Jews should be/do
now...the only qualifier for that better to be a Muslim thing is that it's better to be a Muslim ONLY IF they aren't radical Muslims....terrorism is not alright
and it's also not a good thing to be such haters or Israel

Ya know, this is a good question - despite the terrible answers youve received so far.
I beleive, what you are asking is: Whom does God hate more - people that do not beleive he exists, or people who choose to worship some other god???
Id have to think that he would hate those that pray to other gods more than those who simply deny him and ALL gods..

I resent this question.
But- right- I forgot, because I'm atheist I must not have any morals, feelings, or focus in life. It's a good thing that all I do is drink and do drugs, which no GOOD religious person would EVER do, nor do I kill people in the name of God, (which no good religious person would ever... wait... uh... nevermind) Also, it's a good thing all I do is have sexual intercourse like an animal, because the voice of god doesn't compel me not to.
