olympus E300 is the more solid camera (magnesium body, all lenses have a metal lens mount) but doesn't have alot of lenses on the market (about 25 of them vs 80 for Canon)
Canon has the advantage in quantity and quality of high end zooms (24-70 f2.8L, 70-200 f2.8 L, etc)
Go pick both up, My wife chose the Olympus and has been happy with it

I probably should have read the review. I have a Canon Rebel eos300, and I like it - a lot! Olympus makes a really nice camera. I don't think you can go wrong either way, but I still lean to the Canon.

Well Olympus is a good camera, it just lacks in versititly that Canon or Nikon have. I would get the Rebel. It handles ISO better than Olympus and it has a whole range of lenses you can slap onto that sucker.

The best camera is the one that when you hold it in your hands in the store, you don't want to put it down and want to make thousands of pictures with.
Seriously; when it comes down to choosing one camera from two choices, it's not about comparing statistics. You've already narrowed your choices down. Go to your local camera store and try both of them. The one you love using the most is the camera for you.
