None whatsoever. Organized religion is a waste of time. Just live your life to the fullest and interact with God on a personal level, if you're into that.

Personally, I think the most important part of belonging to a religious group is to be able to have fellowship with those who also believe. But, I do not believe that either God or Christ ever said that a specific church or specific dogma was the desire of his heart so I would not be overly taken up with the dogma (doctrine) of any specific religion. It is the belief in God and in Jesus as the Son of God and redeemer. Beyond that, I would say forget it. As you can tell, I am not a great fan of organized religion but it does have its benefits for companionship with those like minded.

You see, the problem right there is 'joining a religion'. Have a relationship with God, not a religionship with man. So it doesn't matter where you fellowship, your heart and eyes would be vertically on the Lord and not horizontally on man.

Well, there are many benefits for some people.
One doesn't have to think anymore, and one gets all the answers to life's questions handed to them. Of course it doesn't matter if those answers are fraudulent, you won't have to think about how taken in you've been since you don't have to think.
Your pockets will be lighter since you will have less money and you won't have to worry about how to fill your spare time since the church will be taking both of those things from you.
Oh there are many 'benefits' that's for sure.

I'm not religious but I am very spiritual and I find associating with like minded people uplifts me. You are part of a community that is striving to better themselves. If you surround yourself with positive people you are more likely to take on those positive attributes. Likewise if you associate with negative people your attitudes tend to degrade. It is comforting to know that there are other people that share your beliefs and can offer support during times of trial and doubt.
