Religion never has. I was very religious and then I was freed.

After seeking God with all my heart, strength, soul, and mind. I realized grace.

I was given vision and purpose instead of legalism and superstition.

Eckankar undoubtedly has been the greatest thing that happened to me. I had been practicing medicine for over twenty years, all the while having a good time but not quite understanding the real meaning of life until I found Eckankar. One good thing about the religion is that it lets everyone be.

I have found that applying the scriptures, not just reading
but applying the scriptures, it has truly made me a better
person, worker, relative, etc. It has helped me to look at
life in a positive way, knowing that the trials and tribulations
that we face are only temporary. Proverbs 2:20-22

I think the first benefit I've felt from practicing my religion (Christianity) is having a sense of accountability, both to God and to other people, which keeps me from doing all the reckless, thoughtless, hurtful things I was at times inclined to do otherwise.

Second, it leads to healthy living... such as our belief that we need to 'honor God with our bodies' leading me not to smoke, drink and engage in other things that could make me sick.

Third, it's enriched my life through improving my relationships with other people. When you are committed to living a life of love, peace, forgiveness and gentleness, it can be a hard goal to reach, but it really makes all the difference in how you relate to other people. I've especially felt this in my relationship with my husband, who is middle-eastern (and yes, Muslim...) some things about our cultures and religions I think could make it almost impossible to live with each other happily, but it's our commitment to each other and our respect of each others commitment to God, and our desire to make our marriage pleasing to God that really brings us close together.

And that's about all I can come up with for now....

Religion hasn't.

God has in many ways. In pretty much all aspects of my life actually.
