Among the many popular Conservative fabrications, this one may be the most ridiculous. Only a simple-minded half-wit would believe that if we end the occupation of Iraq and redeploy our troops, all the “terrorists” will hop on a plane and follow us home. That anyone would believe this propaganda is incomprehensible. The notion that our military presence in Iraq is keeping the terrorists there is utterly absurd. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other.

Are we really fighting terrorists in Iraq or are we helplessly trapped in the crossfire of a civil war? How do you identify a true terrorist and distinguish them from Iraqi citizens defending their sovereignty? If another country invaded America, would we not defend ourselves? Would the defenders be called “terrorists”? How does the war in Iraq prevent terrorists from coming to America? Where’s the credible connection?

Our Mexican border is far from being secure, our ports are open season for terrorists, and the Canadian border, although somewhat protected, falls way short. Terrorists can literally come and go as they please. They live among us right now—thousands of them. To believe that the Iraqi War is preventing another 9-11 attack is foolhardy. It took the terrorists years to plan and execute 9-11; they are very patient people. Rest assured they are conspiring at this very moment, planning another attack on American soil. And the war in Iraq has nothing to do with this agenda, nor does it prevent it.

Terrorism does not reign under a specific flag; it is a global movement. Bullets cannot defeat a perverted ideology. The only way to fight terrorism is with police work, sharing intelligence, and by launching a cooperative, worldwide movement to identify terrorist groups, choke off their funding and break them up. If you believe that the war in Iraq is a war on terror, you are pitifully naïve.

TO TEAM CHIEF: Is English your second language? Did you read my comments? Evidently not. You agreed with everything I said except that you failed to explain why the war in Iraq is preventing terrorism in America. Where's the connection? Re-read it and get back to me.

NO!. That is the exact same BS argument they used in Nam. If we don't stop the reds in Nam, they will take over the world. Well, 40 years later, the red scare has STILL not spread past China and Nam. And the soviet union is gone. The whole key is this. CONS ARE VERY VERY SCARED. Bush has them shaking in fear so much, they are actually willing to give up the civil rights our soldiers have died to protect. Ironic isn't it?

Fanatical muslim terrorist are trying to stop Iraq from becoming a democracy. Having a democracy in the heart of the Mid-East is opporant to them. Most all of their energies are to stop that from happining. Iran is suppling the terrroist with bombs and the Mullas get the ignorant to strap bombs to themselves. Once we pull out, then a large part of the Iraq population will be killed and taken over by extremest. Iran will probably invade and be worse than Saddam.
The Bush/Blair team has already stopped other terrosist from blowing more people up in this country.
I have read there are as many as 5000 sleeper cells in this country, and they keep coming into this country. When they are strong enough they will attack in mass. I aggree more could be done to stop them from coming in. It isn't all Bush's fault though, liberals put up many legal roadbocks. I wouldn't allow anymore Muslim people to come into this country until all hostilities cease.
There is every reason to believe the bomb threat will increase once we leave the Mid-East.
I am really aware that it is hard to tell the good guys from the bad, but that doesn't mean you quit. The latest reports from Iraq from Senators etc. who have went over there say things are getting better.
We would have had to go to Iraq with or without the WMDs, because Saddam was thumbing his nose at the USA with all his broken resolutions. Before the war, the worlds intellegent communitiy said he had WMDs and so did most of the Democrats including Gore, Hillary, Kerry etc. Now that we are there and in a sort of quicksand that couldn't be predicted. We have to stay or run with our tail between our legs. Doing the latter would embolden the enemy worldwide. Though I don't think Bush is ideal, Democrats don't have anyone better.
If we anounce a pullout date it would be the worse thing we could do. The enemy would only take advantage of it.
Are you upset because you never served and want to justify not serving your country by putting down military action. Remember more men died in one day in previous wars than have died in four years in this one. Isn't that something to think about

We are over there for the wrong reasons, how to get out and it all be chummy and good now I have no idea, but this does not and will not keep us safer from terrorist it only makes it more dangerous because about half the countries are against us now. We need their support and we should have had our soldiers here in case there was a legitimate uprising from them here. We did not do that and that was wrong. America is not a country that attacks we defend! Even if we have to go to defend and we support our allies that is all. We do not attack, this is bull this is based on ???? not WMD and no it is not our soldiers faults they want to be home too. Most of them anyways with their families and making a living for themselves, not in debt or dead or disabled for life. That is not what they want they are simply doing their duty and doing what they are being told to do. They don't want to they have to do it. We are weak now because of this our whole country is we are in debt and our men are not here to protect us should that need arise and half of our allies are gone. I think though that if it came down to it that we the people would stand together with the soldiers and it would not take a draft to get us to do it, we are use to protecting what is ours and America is ours.

I've been concerned that fighting them over there might tie up all our resources to the point that we won't have anything to fight with over here. I remember during the hurricane Katrina fiasco that the local national guard unit was not available for disaster work because they were in Iraq. I hate to think what would happen if hurricane Al Queda hit and nobody was home. If terrorists are lined up all over the world just waiting to sneak in our back door how is what we are doing in Iraq going to stop them?

I find the notion that liberals refuse to accept the fact that we were once attacked by terrorists in our own country, and that those same terrorist groups are even now planning for the next attack in our own nation totally ridiculous, ludicrous, and just plain stupid.

They came over here once, genius, so what makes you think they won't do it again? Your statement that the terrorists will "hop on a plane and follow us home" is stupid to say the best. Of course they're not going to do that...they're going to come in on student visas, they're going to infiltrate through the Mexican and Canadian borders, they're going to come in as diplomatic couriers....there are many ways that they're going to do it, but I can guarantee you that they ARE going to do it. SOON.

So what will it take before you and your liberal brothers and sisters finally wake up to a very real threat? Will it take another attack? And when that one comes - which it most assuredly will - who are you going to blame? The Republicans? The Conservatives? Who?

ADDED COMMENT: As usual, when intelligent rhetoric fails, you and your kind resort to insults. If you were half as smart as you seem to think you are, you'd realize that I don't agree with you on a single point, and am making an entirely different one in my first post. Guess all of that went over your head, huh?

Typical.

1st of all if you are going to blame a president blame Clinton.
All of these things happened when Clinton was the president and all where claimed by Bin Laden
1. Bombing of the USS COLE
2. Bombing of the African Embassy
3.Bombing of the World Trade Center 93
The Military knew where Bin Laden was and Clinton decided not to take action!

That just goes to show how much you know! The attacks on the US started in the 90's Clinton had a chance to take action but did nothing.....the result of that 9/11.
Know what you are talking about before you open your mouth!!! It makes you look dumb.

US MARINE!

As a Forward Observer in the Army I would say that it is absolutely true. Not that they would catch the first flight here though however. It would prove that we are weak and do not stick to our guns and will embolden them to come in through uor (outrageousely) unprotected southern border w/ Mexico.

Also, future recruiting efforts for terrorists will be easier because they have more morale and think that they have already won the big battle, now they just have to finish it up.

I agree liberals, bring our troops home,if you are right nothing will happen,if you are wrong, well your intentions were honorable, and that is what you want judged, not the results,American lives be damned,we deserve to be killed in are own country, god knows we have killed hundreds,in far off lands, its time we had a taste of are own medicine!

Of course not. There was no Al-Qaeda in Iraq until we brought them there. Bin Laden and Hussein hated each other. This is all common knowledge. Of course, the thing about common knowledge (and common sense) is that it's not all that common.

I'm still waiting for the Communist to come into my town and kill me. I've been waiting for 32 years ever since we lost Vietnam. I was told by the military if we lose Vietnam the Communist will kill me. Still waiting....
