I got a tattoo on my ankle a little over a week ago. How long should I wait before I shave that ankle? I don't want to mess up the tattoo or interfere with the healing process.

Wait until it is fully healed. Shaving the scabbed area could cause scar tissue to form, which you dont want. Dont wax as an alternative, that worse. Just wait until the scab from the tattoo is healed or at least sensetive skin has started to form again. Shave as close to the area as possible and give it time. Good luck.

And i dont see how i have any issues (see the girl below) I gave an educated answer, did my research, and ive had experience with this aswell. Its my advise and what i have found works, so watch your mouth.

Usually tattoos take about 2 weeks to heal, I will wait at least 3-4 before I shave to make sure there is no more peeling and so that I won't irritate the area.

I would wait until any scabbing is gone. If there is any scabbing, you could shave off some of the colouring.
I would give it at least 3 weeks, that would give it all the time that it need to heal. I hope you are using all the ointments that they suggest you use. They will help it heal faster.

When I got my tattoo done last yr I got information on it. In it it said wait for approx 2-3 weeks.. After all the peeling has gone away.. When it is nice shiney and smooth.. And when THE MOTHER STOPS ITCHING!.... Otherwise U will possibly take off some of the color..or it will be faded in spots.....Mine took 2 wks. but I waited 3 to be on the safe side. . Congrats on the new tat.. Hope ya like it!

To be on the safe side, I would wait 3-4 weeks. And yes that is the safe side.

Why take chances doing it a week or so earlier when the damage that could possibly be done might last forever?

Even if those chances are 1% I would still wait 3-4 weeks.

Just wait until a couple of days after it is completely healed and all the scabbing is gone. Any sooner than this can mess it up and would be painfull.

Congrats on your new tattoo! I'd wait 'til any scabs have dropped off and the area feels smooth to the touch (i.e. a few weeks) before going anywhere near it with a razor.

Just wait until all the scabbing is gone and there is no open skin (i.e you washed off a scab in the shower or something like that). I would figure no more than two weeks.
