Giving her butter is ABSOLUTELY fine! Lots of doctors warn first time parents of all kinds of issues their children can get if they give them certain foods/drinks. Most doctors tend to over exaggerate and it causes parents to over worry. I remember my son's doctor telling me about the soda thing a couple years ago. I looked up the test online and the chances of a child getting any kind or serious developmental problems was extremely low. I don't know about you, but i wouldn't give my toddler soda anyway! She'll be fine, don't worry about it ;). You'll learn what foods are and aren't for appropriate her on your own as she grows up. Lots of parents wonder about this kind stuff and most of it comes down to common sense. Use your best judgment. If you still aren't sure, look for foods/spreads/drinks with natural ingredients.
Best wishes to you and good luck!

I'm not a doctor, but I can tell you that I absolutely do NOT give spreads to my kids. I give them real butter. I want to know that what I feed them is a natural food, not a bunch of chemicals.
You may hear today that there is nothing harmful....but what will we find out 10 years from now?
Organic foods and natural ingredients are the safest way to go!

I have a 3 year old and I have been using can't believe its not butter on his toast since he was able to eat and have not had any problems. I have never heard about not giving your kid diet cola either from my pediatrician. I would check with another pediatrician.

I would substitute the butter for a fruit spread because children don't need a lot of fats in their diets and small children shouldnt be drinking a lot of pop either more water and fruit juice. As far as ADD much of that is developmental in the womb not after birth until it's recognized by a specialist to properly diagnose it.

You shouldn't have a problem witht the butter. I was told the same thing about the diet stuff. My son loves butter, I think he could eat a whole tub if he ever got the chance to. Nothing is as good as when it has butter on it.

As far as butter goes, no I haven't heard of it being bad for children. The only bad thing about butter is the amount of oil it has in it. Diet cola's are known to cause brain tumors in children under 12 because of the NutraSweet and aspartame that's in it.

I haven't personally heard of anything (I work at WIC which is a nutrition program). I'd use more butter though, because it is actually healthy for their brain development to have those fatty acids that are contained in dairy products (that is why WIC recommends children under 2 have only whole milk, not skim or 2%). If weight is a concern in your family, cut out the REAL junk foods like chips, pop, and candy... just don't have them in your house at all. If they're not around, you won't be tempted to eat them.

I have not heard of any long term effects from buttery spread. I do use real butter, it is more natural.

Butter is fine! If you want try organic butter. But never give your child margarine! Not yourself either. Its one molecule away from being plastic. You wouldn't want her to eat that would you?

The butter stuff is only vegetable oil; no harm.
Diet anything has Aspartame; which converts to formaldehyde in your system; need I say more?
