No because I have never received death threats or hate mail from Atheists like I have Christians.

Fallacious assumption inherent in the question.

Having known a lot of atheists and Christians, I'd say atheists are not more angry.

They do get ticked off when some Christians try to force religious prayer into schools, try to force pseudo-science, in the form of Creationism, into the science classrooms. They get ticked off when they are fired for being an atheist or have the president say they have no rights because of their lack of belief in a deity. They get tired of Christians and others forcing their beliefs into law (gay marriage amendments, Blue laws, liquor laws, pornography laws, etc.).

In the state of South Carolina, you MUST be married by someone religiously ordained. All prior marriages through a justice of the piece or judge have been invalidated. That's not exactly "separation of church and state".

Seven states bar atheists from holding public office.

Now that would sound like they are pretty PO'ed, but when you counter that against the xtians that are ticked because they are being thwarted when trying to put god in the classroom, the ten commandments in the courthouses, and the bible in the science classrooms, I think it sort of balances out.

More sarcasting and biting, sure. But more angry? Not in the slightest.

You never see atheists marching and shouting, causing violence, blowing up health clinics, murdering doctors, screaming until they're red in the face because their constitutional rights are being protected, and so on.

Religious on the other hand tend to be very angry and easily provoked. Muslims riot and burn everything when a parody image appears in a newspaper or something bad is said about their religion. Christians get pissed off when the first amendment is preserved (by keeping 10 commandments out of courthouses for instance), they have all kinds of marches, spout hellfire rhetoric constantly, publically hate minority groups such as gays and jews, and so on...

I don't know why the faithful are so anger-prone, but psychology would suggest a lot of it is derived from insecurity and cognitive dissonance.

Overall, I would say that people in general are angry....more angry than they were a few generations ago. I believe it stems from the self-centered society that we have created for ourselves. If I am, indeed, the most important thing in my universe, why wouldn't I be angry when someone offends me or disagrees with me?

In theory, Christians should be less susceptible to this, since we are to keep our focus on God. However, we are still just fallible humans, and it's easy to fall into the trap of selfishness every now and then.

Overall the atheists I know are a very laid back bunch. I don't like to say any group is more angry, or hateful, or happy, as that is a generalization. We are all individuals.

Yes, and it's aimed especially at Christians. I know some Christians can be rude and judgemental. They are stumbling blocks to unbelievers. But I also think athiests know the difference between them and the sincere Christians. Deep down they are offended by the truth of God's word, because a part of them recognizes it but do not want to accept it. Jesus is a "rock of offense" to them.

And that applies to all unbelievers, not just athiests.

Anyone can get angry. Especially when people completely and repeatedly, delibrately misunderstand them. Like you are prone to doing.

My atheist friends are the happiest people I know. I bet it's the extra 3 hours of sleep on Sunday that do it. Oh, and no guilt about sex. That's great too.

I can't generalize . . .I don't know enough atheists to compare. However, the ones who I have known seemed just like me. I think we say "atheist" and assume it is some mean and dark person. They are just people too. . .just view life differently.

And, if you are a Christian and want to reach out to ones who call themselves atheist don't do it by attacking or judging. The best witness to your Lord is to live your life in a way that people want what you have. You don't have to shove it down people's throats. . .it's just not the way to do it. Everyone wants to be respected for their views even if you don't understand.

No, I wouldn't. I'm sure there's angry people on all sides... but I do not see Atheists being more angry than Christians. I don't see them on TV screaming they don't want certain people getting married. (Among other things) =)

Yes. It's one thing to not believe in GOD, its another to be so passionate about one's unbelief.

I don't think Christians are angry.
