In my opinion, Catholics offended by a chocolate Jesus.
The Muslims offended by the cartoons were offended for several reasons including: 1. depictions of Muhammad are forbidden 2. Muhammad was depicted in a offensive manner (with a bomb in his turban, etc.).
The Catholic church does not object to visual depictions of Jesus (obviously - they are everywhere). Secondly, the depiction, in my view, not offensive. The work is called, "My Sweet Lord." The artist usually works with food, thus he chose chocolate for his sculpture. The statue is nude, which is how some say Jesus was crucified. There is no evidence that the artist intended any irreverence.
This discussion has made me have several questions of my own, but I will refrain from including them here.

that's no longer that we don't get offended. quite that's some thing that makes us as hurtful as Muhammad observed's being drawn and so on. in ordinary terms element is as quickly as we are saying do no longer try this to Jesus, human beings do no longer write approximately it interior the information yet we are saying do no longer try this to Muhammad observed and that's around the international. no longer in ordinary terms Jesus, yet Moses, Noah, Jonas and so on any prophet, in the event that they're drawn or in the event that they're talked in a detrimental way it hurts us too. i've got had maximum of talks approximately this with my christian acquaintances and that they say we don't get offended why do you. i've got many circumstances written to my community newspaper yet no substitute. with a bit of luck, sooner or later each thing will substitute and God and prophets will now no longer be used to mock for individuals's very own shortcomings and disbeliefs.

I think that the childish response of hundreds of thousands of muslims "offended" by cartoons far exceeds the response of catholics and their petty offenses to chocolate and such.

I'm Catholic, and I wasn't offended. I would have preferred they put a towel or something around him because he was naked, but other then that I had no problems.

definately the chocolate jesus...i mean christians eat bread and wine in some services and that represents christs flesh and blood so a chocolate version is basically the same principle. But tastier! :) so i find it hypocritical to say the least.

Let's see. No Catholics or Christians have mobbed, murdered, or massacared over chocolate or cartoons. May I direct you attention to this fine parody of Jesus and Christians? http://www.adultswim.com/shows/moralorel/
Yet, how many Catholics and Christians do you see Jihading and killing over it???
NONE.
Cased closed, and may Pecans be upon you.

I'm Catholic and I'm not offended, but if I were, I wouldn't riot in the streets or kill people.

Neither is ridiculous. Both religions have the same first amendment rights as the people that mock them.
