They believe the Bible is 100% correct and, I believe, they are trying to use that as a means of converting those of us who are not Christian. Now, I can see if asking a Biblical question, you're going to get Biblical verses for answers. But overall the questions here are just like this one... more on a personal level rather than a Biblical or Academic one and there's really no reason to quote Bible verses. Besides, if all one has is the memorization of a Book and can't even put it into their own words... it leads me to believe that they truly aren't living it... they just know how to quote it. =)

It depends on the way the person is using the Bible. Have you ever noticed you could be posting a question like, "Why is the grass green?" and someone will just randomly post an answer like - "Hi Flowbaby! John 3:16." But assuming a person is responding to an actual discussion on yanswers, the Bible can give clues as to why the person thinks what they do, because that is the source of their beliefs.... whether the other people in the discussion believe it is a historical/factual book or not. Me personally I think all books that are considered "sacred" by others, whether it is the Koran, Kabbalah, Book of Mormon, whatever... it's worth looking into. I think we are more alike than different. And indignant arrogant people are really just trying to convince
THEMSELVES more than others of what they believe when they do what you say.

Those that believe in the Bible will use scriptures to back up there ways of living and beliefs. Nothing really wrong with that. Same goes with those that believe in the Koran, or some other holy texts.
We learn from what we read, or are taught, so therefore, we rely on those sources for proving what we do. It's only natural. If you don't like it, then just say, "thanks, I;ll make a note of it."

Well, since the Bible is the Ultimate source it makes sense that it is a mega source used to quote from... Why does it bother you so much?
No ones trying to convert you. Your too closed minded to be converted at this point. BUT there is something in you that makes you crawl about the Bible and that is good.. that means somewhere inside you your not tuly lost...

I don't know what the answer is but you are right. There are tons of bible questions/quotes. I know religion is important to each one of us but isn't it in our own way. A private and personal matter that shouldn't be questioned by others. And...it's not the God thing...it's trying to prove that your God is righter and better and bigger than mine.
I don't like that.

Some people like to use a written text as a "reference proof", rather than using their brainpower & "common sense" to work the answers out to almost anything. I think the root of this is basically laziness.
I'm quite sure the bible (like the contemporaneous "Aesop's Fables") was intended to be 'guidance', not law. Almost any rule in it is contradicted elsewhere in it!
Some things are probably just "unknowable", and that is unbearable to the intellectually lazy!

I think they use the Bible as evidence to support their claims. However the Bible can also be used to disprove their claims at the same time. This is why nonbelievers read the Bible also.

Flowbaby! What an odd question.
Would you criticize a car mechanic because he referred to the manual?
Would you criticize a chef because he referred to a cookbook?
Would you criticize the president because he referred to the constitution?
Would you criticize an actor because he referred to the script?
Its something called ......the basis.

The Bible has all of the answers to life's most difficult questions, but you have to read it and believe it.
