Perhaps the writer had a glimpse into the future.
He may have read some of the prophets and Revelation.
They will come.
It is written.
They will be at the hands of the two that never died.
Yes there were two.
Rev 11:3 "And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."
Rev 11:4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.
Rev 11:5 And if anyone desires to harm them, fire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies; and if anyone would desire to harm them, in this manner he must be killed.
Rev 11:6 These have the power to shut up the sky, in order that rain may not fall during the days of their prophesying; and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to smite the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.

In the wake of a devastating tragedy that killed every member of her family, Christian missionary Katherine Morrissey (Hilary Swank) loses her faith in God, devoting the rest of her life to debunking religious phenomena with the principles of science. But when she's called to a small Southern town to investigate a series of strange occurrences that appear to be biblical plagues, she runs out of logical explanations.
Just another story to push the Bible upon people.

I think it's great because it reminds people of what the Bible is really all about...
Too many people take the Bible "literally" instead of a great book of metaphors and spiritual teachings...
It makes you wonder how some fundamentalists can actually believe what they do... word for freakin' word....
Like the same passages that they use to condemn gay people would actually have you believe that if you don't then God will turn you into a block of salt...
Funny... I haven't seen any salt statues of gay-friendly people in my neighborhood lately....

I haven't seen a comercial yet. I, however, loved "The Abominable Dr. Phibs" which was about using the plagues as a murder weapon. Very funny.
Until I see what "The Reaping" is about, I have no real opinion. I"d probably see it, though. I love movies.

It should make Hollywood lots of money if the storyline is interesting. Of course, it will be inaccurate, put Bible believing people and those living in poor sections of the south as backward, stupid people which should provide a lot of fodder for this site.

I think the producers saw a chance for 10 real cool CGI scenes. Who needs acting when you have special effects?

It looks interesting. I just find it a little disturbing that of the Biblical texts available they chose this one to modernize, but such is life.

I have only seen a few trailers on it so don't really know what it is about in total. I will have to wait until if and when I see it to make a judgement.

Looks like a good horror movie. There are others I'd order before this one, though.
