And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

It says we should fear the Lord, but not in an anxious way. The 4th definition of fear is "reverential awe" which is what we are suppose to feel toward God. Other than that, we are to fear Nothing because if you trust in the Lord, he will take care of everything in your life and there is no reason to worry. "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." 1 John 4:18

The Bible says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7" So that answers your first question. Now the second.

The Bible also says, "Fear not, for I am with thee."

I believe we should fear God, the One that is all just, and all loving.

My version of what I believe; Do not worry or have fear; the birds have plenty to eat and I know when they drop from the sky. The Lilly's of the field, I clothe them in the most beautiful of garments and colors. You can't lose a hair on your head without me knowing it and I know when you use hair dye! Ha, Ha!

So with that belief, it seems to me, like there is nothing to fear except; my choice to mistrust God and not believe in His Son Jesus the Redeemer that came to save me!

We should fear the Lord. Not in the sense of "being afraid" of Him but a reverential fear that brings about awe and humility before our mighty Creator.

We should not fear men, death or the things of this world. For Jesus Christ has overcome them.
