ive just moved into a new property and after pulling off layer after layer of wallpaper in the living area i prepared and washed the walls then when i finally got round to painting them the blooming paint started peeling when it dried WHY OH WHY HAS THIS HAPPENED it has taken me sooooooooooooooo long to get this far, what is recommended without calling in the professionals

the only way to sort it is to peel of all the remaining paint ...wash the walls down with sugar-soap...sand down the walls to give a good holding surface to the paint, use an undercoat before putting on the final colour ....a lot of work i know but its the only way...good luck

I would expect that you could have damp walls. It will happen as the paint cannot stick to it. Alternatively try painting pva glue on the wall first, then as it is drying(it wants to be tacky) paint the wall with the paint.

you need to seal the wall first as you have let the moisture into the wall get a bottle of woodglue and mix it 50 -50 with water then paint or roll it on

did you use a steamer to get the paper off :::?? if no old paste is still on the wall , if yes paste "may" still be on the wall >>>>>go over the whole area with a steamer scraping of the old paste :::::: now seal the wall with 50% water and 50% white emulsion mix :::::: now paint

sometimes this is caused by a chemical reaction, it happenes when you paint over unsealed new plaster too. Unfortunatly you may have to start over, try sealing with pva, it acts as a barrier and is ideasl in moist areas.

get a tin of sealer paint it on and wait till dry ..then re paint it
