At home, quality, kits are as effective as the professional sessions. But, you don't have the possible scarring and irritation you may receive with professional treatments. I've heard many stories and I'm glad I've never gone that route.

And of course the cost is substantially less.

$60 will buy you a system through BeautiControl and you'll get approx. 10-20 treatments out of it. Oprah has said this is the best one on the market!

I know there are others that are just as good....it's up to you to try one.

I bought the Conair Steam Spa, which comes with a microdermabrasion tool, and Avon's Anew Clinical Microdermabrasion scrub. The total cost was probably around $45-$50, which seems to be the average for complete kits (sometimes less if you get them on sale).
I love the way both have made my skin glow and feel softer. I've had professional facials done and of course, my at-home efforts are not as good. But they are reasonably good, I am satistfied and it's far cheaper than getting a professional facial every week!

Origins makes a mircodermabrasion alternative face product that you apply kind of like an exfoliator-they have information about studies they have done where they tested 54 women who reguarly went for microdermabrasion treatments and 94% of them said they preferred this product. It is called Modern Friction and runs about $36 for a tub that will last you forever (they also have a kit that has it in there with a few other products that are great for like $40) They also carry a fomulation to be used on the body and a product called Modern Fusion that strengthens the results.

They work fairly well. Average $30 (check cvs sometimes on sale)

I suggest using a warm clean wash cloth in the micro and exfoliate twice a week, a deep mask once a week.
After a hydrating wash. Use a toner and day cream
and at night a night cream.

I use the Nutrimin C re9 series from Arbonne the regime is like a daily facial every day. Used in the finest spas in Hollywood.
I think the whole regime is better then any gadget I was trying.
