Oh, and I work with Muslims and have Muslim neighbors. We're not *that* close, but we're nice to each other.

6 here,
But the actions of many Muslims have put me off.
You guys love to blame the media, but in reality the media didn't pilot the planes on 9/11. The media doesn't teach young children to hate Jews, the media doesn't strap bombs on teenagers and send them into crowded marketplaces.
That is being done by Muslims. Not all of them by any means, but by quite a few of them. There have been over 5800 separate acts of terror in the past 6 years, that have been documented and done by Muslims. There have been many done by the Jews and the Christians as well. But the Muslims have a monopoly on terror right now.
When was the last time you heard about Jews/Christians cutting off heads while shouting God is Great? That tends to be a Muslim trait. Unfortunately, until the Muslim world decides to take action against these people who portray Islam in these ways, the western world will continue to look at the religion with disdain and revulsion.

Is it any fair if I answer, since I've studied Islam in depth? I suppose I shall.
I'm a #3 and a #6 both to a significan degree. I own 2 copies/translations of the Quran and many books written by Muslim scholars. I've studied both sides of all of the debates and I still am a #3.

For me it would be 3 and 6. I have a book of Hadiths that I got from Amazon. My copy of the Qur'an, I got from CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations, it was free). Muslims are some of the kindest people I know.

The simple truth is: good Muslims are bad people. Islam makes them that way. While there are plenty of "bad" Muslims who are good people, they are as impotent as bad Nazis in the Third Reich or bad Communists during Stalin’s era. The Qur'an defines good and bad Muslims for us. It says a good Muslim is a Jihadist, a man who leaves his home, sacrificing his wealth and life, fighting in Allah’s Cause. Allah says they will be rewarded with stolen booty if they survive or with a heavenly bordello if they die. Bad Muslims, on the other hand, are peaceful. Allah calls them "hypocrites" because they are unwilling to fight. He even says that peaceful Muslims are "the most vile of creatures" and that hell’s hottest fires await them. If you are a peace-loving Muslim, your god hates you.

7. I know little of the muslim faith so I keep my mouth shut about it and have no preconceived opinions about those who practice it.
