I filed an injured spouse form, we have 2 children and I only worked 3 months out of the year. our return was s'pose to be almost 6000.00 and we got 1000.00 back was all. I thought we would atleast get back the tax credit for the 2 children also.

The child tax credit is a non refundable credit used to reduce your tax liability, If there is any portion not used to reduce your tax you might have claimed the Additional CTC, but that is reduced by any CTC that you did use on your return.

Did you file a complete tax return with your injured spouse form? Did a professional do your taxes?
Earned Income Credit is based on your household make-up and your earnings. If you only worked 3 months out of the year, you probably didn't even make $6,000.
You don't automatically get Child Tax Credit, or Extra Child Tax Credit just from having a child. There are financial criteria.

good luck & seek a professional tax person

Since you filed the Injured Spouse Form 8379 you get your proportional share of any refund.

If your spouse earned most of the money, they would be allocated most of the credits and deductions.

You probably received most, if not all, of your withholding back.
