No. there are some denominations that teach that, but it is not so. the Bible clearly teaches the eternal security of the believer. If you could lose your salvation, then that would make God a covenant breaker. God's word is true.

If you look in the book of Luke, chapter 15, verse 11, you'll read of the "Prodigal Son." It is a story that Jesus used to show that any of us can walk away from Salvation, return and be forgiven if we are honest and true in our hearts in that request for forgiveness.

He also used this story to show that when we realize that we have sinned .... the recognition of responsibility for that sin is a large part of our reconciliation with God.

So, yes, a Christian can lose their salvation. However, once they have stepped away, are they still a "Christian?" ....... oh, no! Yet, another question ......

When a Christian stops wanting to come to God, it is a sign of that happening. The desire to be with God and the belief that Jesus is Lord is the evidence that a person is Christian.

As to those who say no, then what are the words in the Bible describing such an occurance in there?

A person who is truly saved cannot lose his or her salvation; that would make God a liar.

However, a person who experiences a "false conversion" (i.e. never truly repents and makes Jesus Lord) was never saved to begin with. Whatever he or she had will be lost as they get ensnared in the cares and sins of the world around them.

I believe they can.I mean, just because your saved, doesn't mean u can then go out and commit sin knowing that you are going to heaven. But if you truly are saved sin will be less of a possibility in your life.It just takes 1 unforgiven sin to send you to hell when you die.

In the Gospel Plan we are required to make certain covenants with Heavenly Father. A covenant is a sacred agreement between God and a person or group of people. God sets specific conditions, and He promises to bless us as we obey those conditions. When we choose not to keep covenants, we cannot receive the blessings, and in some instances we suffer a penalty as a consequence of our disobedience.

God never breaks his covenant with us. It is always us who break out covenants with God. When we are baptized we covenant to take upon us the name of Jesus Christ and always remember Him. We also covenant to keep his commandments which he has given us. We covenant to repent when we make mistakes and sin. We covenant to serve our brothers and sisters. In fact, we covenant to keep the two great commanmdents: Thou shalt love thy God, and thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. To those who think that they can love God without keeping His commandments Jesus says "If ye love me, Keep my commandments." Obedience to the precepts of the Gospel is a sign that you truly love Him and are truly of His flock.
