I feel in order for me to answer this i am going to use a comparison to mother earth. Body=earth, Mind=Air, Emotions=Water. All make up the earth/you they do exist independent from each other but together they make up you/the earth. Who you really are is an observer, that learns through everything you experience through your mind, body and emotions.

I might have to go to an asylum (lol) but i have experienced (not through drugs or anything but by realizing something) this observer and this observer does not judge and is in a state of love and peace.

You are more of a process rather than a constant. So you are who you are now.

Good luck with finding the answer to this question for yourself. It is an ageless question.

You are all three. Your mind and your personality are a product of your brain. Your perceive and create your own version of reality with your brain - there is plenty of evidence for this both from Neurology and Psychology. You are also a product of the interaction between the genetic predispositions you have inherited (a combination of the results of natural and sexual selection, and the random mutations that occur in reproduction of organisms) and your psychological and physical interpretation of environmental events.

There is considerable proof that we are organisms that evolved from apes - which begs the question: which of our ancestors first acquired a soul (if we do have one)?

Any religious interpretation is based on supposition rather than hard evidence (sorry if I offend anyone by stating that but that is my belief and is as worthy of respect as any religious belief).

Philosophy should be taught in schools alongside religious education in an attempt to fill the ethical gap left by secularisation in most of western society.

You are the SOUL, or ATMA, that is my belief anyway. We cannot understand everything about life, death and the universe. However, I do believe that there is a soul which is a separate entity, everlasting and pure. One can achieve self- realisation only after many lifetimes. Creating good karma is the path to salvation.

You are a soul with your own personality and sense of humour. You've a character even with no surname, and an individual who chooses his path and rides a different horse than everyone else.

The first you is how you perceive yourself, the second you is how others perceive you, and then there's the real you. The goal is to bring the first two in line with how you really are.

IMHO, we existed before our bodies were created, and we will exist after our bodies are gone... but while we are IN our bodies, we do have certain limitations that end up defining us during that time period...
