Proper etiquette says to say, "Excuse me for a moment." If you are with friends or family in a relaxed setting, just say, "I need to drain my main vein before my bladder splatters!" Just kidding, excuse me for a moment is the proper way. If you don't know where it is, talk to someone you think knows quietly to inquire of it's whereabouts.

When there is a break in the conversation just say "excuse me" and leave to do your business. That would be perfectly acceptable.

Actually just 'excuse me for a second' will usually work. Everyone knows you're going to bathroom, you don't need to advertise it.

just a s imple statement of "excuse me for a moment" is enough. You do not have to fill in all the details.

They'll know where you're going once you excuse yourself and head away from the group.
My sister used to tell my grandmother "too much info!" when she'd announce "I going to tinkle", so she used to say, instead, "I'm going to see a man, about a job."
Weird bit of family history, but kind of amusing.

I think anything more than, "please excuse me for a moment" is too much information for the group to have. You could add "I'll be back in a moment"
