It means that you have something precious in the gospel message of Jesus Christ. Your job is to share that message with the world, however, if they reject you and are obviously not listening, you shouldn't waste your breathe, move on. Swine in the Bible need to be interpreted by the culture it was said in. Jews do not eat pig because it is unclean, So these people who won't accept your message are unclean in their sinfulness.

Pigs do not appreciate pearls. Pearls are associated with being rare and valuable. Difficult to harvest, a long time in the making, pearls are harvested one by one.
Pigs, do not care about any of that. Does it taste good? Does it keep their sensitive skin sheltered from the sun? Is it valuable in any real sense of the word when it comes to survival? No, pearls are coveted by superficial people who find value in having something unique and not in having something useful for survival.

You've just described many of the interactions on this site. People are asking sarcastic questions to which they do not wish to know the real truth. They are just here to provoke or malign others.
Basically, we are not to waste our time earnestly trying to tell someone something they have no interest in understanding. Just as pigs cannot appreciate pearls, some people cannot appreciate or comprehend the true glory of God.

I believe the correct phrase is "casting pearls before swine." If means that you should be aware that not everyone will recognize a treasure for what it is. Sometimes the greatest treasures will be ignored because those you present them to have no idea what a treasure is. The treasure will most likely be trampled as that individual runs toward whatever their lust is as pigs do when running toward a trough of slop.

Don't cast your pearls at swine. It's simple. What it means is for those that have the precious truth of God's Word that can change and transform lives should be giving that Word to people who are really interested and care. Not the swine that will just scoff and mock God's Word. They aren't worth anything anyway, unless they wise up.

He throws -- even with catches, catches. A stupid abuse of metaphor on your area. notwithstanding the astounding aspect by a ways is to have a command of metaphor. This on my own won't be able to be imparted by yet another; that's the mark of genius, for to make good metaphors implies an eye fixed for resemblances. Aristotle 'The Poetics'

Try to tell others about God but if they don't want to listen, don't try forcing your opinion on them.
Pearls represent the goodness of God. Pigs represent those that have hardened their hearts and will not hear the truth.
