So, out of a very large book, a tome in fact, you pick one thing, one passage, that you consider silly and that means that everyone who believes what they read in the Bible needs a reality check. By the way, virgins and non-virgins alike can and do get pregnant. Your comment seems to suggest that virginity is a kind of birth control.

aw come on I`ve seen people believing in much more crazy stuff than the bible. Myself I think people who believe in Astrology are much more stupid than people who believe in the bible. There was this guy on yahoo Q&A the other day who believed that America and in fact the president of America planned the world trade centre attacks, now thats a really stupid thing to believe. I`ve known people who refuse to believe that man has been on the moon (they think it was all a conspiracy theory). And I`ve read all sorts of even stupider beliefs. If you look hard enougth you can almost find some people that will believe anything, no matter how stupid or improbbable it is. So you making out people who believe in the bible are not right, I think you just ain't looked around you enougth, if thats the worse belief you can find.

The Bible is a beautiful book to non-Christians but a lamp to Christians. Without it, I would operate in darkness in the path of life. I use it as a lifestyle guide. The reality check is being without it. Not realizing how much power you have when you allow the Word to be a part of your life eventually being totally submissive to the Word of God. It is a beautiful thing. My favorite verse is I Corinthians 10:13. Please read it if you get a chance.

Did you ever think that Faith, i.e. the belief in something you cannot prove is by definition something that "reality" does not have anything to do with. Is all you believe what you can see, taste, touch and feel? If so please explain Love and loyalty and passion and hate and those other things that are beyond our five senses? Faith is not a thing which requires "reality"

People who believe in the Bible haven't actually read the entire thing. I read the entire thing, and that's when I realized it was not a book to live by. I found a different faith that holds me (and others) accountable for our actions. I also try to help others.
By the way, it was the Christian Church that told Galileo he needed a reality check.

What I get out of the bible doesn't have anything to do with virgin births, etc.
Try reading Jesus' message a little closer.
