Spaying and neutering is very important in keeping the animal overpopulation problem under control. Spaying is for females and neutering is for males, very simple operations that remove their reproductive organs. When a female goes into "heat" it means that she is ready to mate with a male. Too many unwanted dogs and cats are born because people don't spay and neuter their pets.

What spay and neutering means is "fixing" your pet so he/she cannot have babies anymore. The importance is there are so many dogs that have no homes in shelter's already and if an uneducated person's dog has puppies they may end up in a shelter causing an ever bigger problem. A dog in heat is basically a female dog going through her cycle. This is the best time to breed a dog. Hope this helps!

Spaying (female) and neutering (male) prevents pregnancy in the female and Fatherhood for the male, the combined effect is intended to reduce the many litters of kittens and puppies which are euthanized, become strays or otherwise suffer.

These procedures are also known to alter the personalities of your pets, making them less aggressive due to hormonal changes caused by the removal of the organs which produce estrogens & testosterone, etc.

A female dog is said to be in "heat" when they are ready to procreate, that is, become a mother. The owner will be able to tell when this happens as the puppy will often undergo personality and behavior changes........becoming irritable and testy. Male dogs will come "sniffing around" as the female puppy gives off an attracting scent.

Hope this helps some.

When the puppy is "in heat" or "in season" it means that she is ready to be bred it is basically "that time of the month". Spaying and Nuetering is VERY important. Shelters all over the united states are overcrowded with dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and all other ages and sizes of pets imaginable because of irresponsible people that leave there pets behind and/or refuse to spay and nueter and just drop the pups off at the shelter every few months. Many animals in shelters are not even given the chance to be chosen for adoption because shelters are so crowded they put new animals to sleep immediately. Yet we continue to have people breeding and selling pets and irresponsible people refusing to spay and nueter. Animals should not be this expendable people, and we ALL need to do our part to stop the over-population and dessertion of our pets.

The main importance is to stop all the breeding of animals, and then most animals going to shelters where they are put down, or being left to fend for themselves on the street.

Secondly, if a puppy is in heat, it means she is ovulating. Trying to attract a male dog to make puppies. You should take her to be spayed, and have all your other dogs and cats be fixed as well. It will also make aggressive dogs, less aggressive, especially males.

the importance of spaying and neutering is to keep the overpopulation of animals down it keeps them from having babies that may ultimatly become strays or worse have to be put down. When your puppy is in heat it is the equivalent to a woman's menstral cycle. It usually goes two weeks going in one week in two weeks out.

I will tell you exactly what the importance of spaying and neutering your pet is... there are over ONE MILLION DOGS/CATS PUT DOWN AT ANIMAL SHELTERS EACH YEAR BECAUSE OF SO MANY IRRESPONSIBLE PET OWNERS WHO ARE TO CHEAP TO GET THERE ANIMALS FIXED.

Yes, the advious is over populated animals in shelters and stuff, but really.....

Dogs and Cats, especially males, are more prone to testicular cancer, and for the females, going through heat is hard, but you are always running the chance of the female escaping your home and geting pregnant.
