Yeah, interesting. There was a really good interview with Sam Harris and one with Francis Collins (director of the Human Genome Project and an evangelical) on NPR's Fresh Air last week.

I think Collins, as a scientist, was a much more articulate representative of Christianity than Warren. As some of you have pointed out, Warren fell into plenty of cliches, including the Pascal's wager. I haven't read his PDL book, but I am bothered but what comes across as intellectual laziness....also, it was interesting how he didn't seem to trust an atheist doing altruistic things in a developing country...

And I liked how Harris got past the "atheism is responsible for crimes against humanity" thing. Dogmatism and Ideologues, as he said, are the real drivers of mayhem, so a dogmatic atheism can be destructive, but Warren was doing the equivalent of saying that all christians were like Jim Jones....

I don't think it is a fair match up. Harris is not a rigorous thinker in my book, but he is more attuned to these discussions than Warren who is more of pastor. There are probably a half-dozen other Christians on the Newsweek Panel that could do a better job of sizing up Harris' three or four standard arguments. George Weigel or Richard Maow would be better.

Ive read it and I must say the things Warren says are almost all the time repeated through other Christians.

the same is true for Sam..

so their arguments have really not changed.

both use the same arguments over and over and I think they rather get boring after a while.

but Sam is more detailed in the way he answered things. Especially when he made the move: atheism isnt the cause of mass murders in the world, dogmatism is.

he was right

Nope, but I have that Chat Noir poster in my dorm room, except the background is mustard yellow. I'm being ignorant by ignoring the article but..I'd find it more interesting if he were sitting down with either more religious officials instead of one man, or with other religions, not just one. Plus neither side can really prove anything. I do know that there is nonreligious historical evidence of Jesus's existence, but as to the miracles...idk. Did they talk about Jesus...I'm so ignorant.
