You're paying for these things now, if they were gone shouldn't you get your money back.

sorry to burst your bubble but social security is a separate deduction from federal income tax as is medicare/medicaid.
As much as I hate paying taxes the fact is that the government needs to pay its bills and income tax is how it's done and it's better to pay now than make our kids, grandkids and their kids pay our debt plus interest.

Medicaid and Medicare keep, who knows when you might need them. The DOE keep. Social Security won't be around in 30 years. And the war in Iraq won't end any time soon, so we're screwed on that one. But yeah a refund for those would be fantastic. I could really use a new car. Mine is going fast.

no longer in case you moved. evaluate your 2006 return. Did you record a 1040? Did you itemize? Did you declare the state income taxes? did you get a tax earnings from that deduction? If valuable, do the figuring to place the refund gained in 2007 on your 2007 tax return.

I am OK with paying my taxes and contributing to our society, if I do not like what is being done with the money I have a vote to speak up with. If that does not work I can get involved by running for office myself. If we did not pay taxes we would have to personally fix our streets, educate our children and watch the small farmers go away for good. I am all for the Government caring for certain things...there is a limit to my willingness though; when taxes get too high I start voting for a change!

Yes!!! I would be delighted to receive my full refund back or better yet why pay any federal taxes at all? Why haven't any Politician come up with the ideal of a Federal funded Lottery? If the States were to combine the lottery into one pot. wouldn't there be more money to spend on Federal programs? Or why not just have one flat rate for everyone ? It's not that hard to come up with a way to fund our Government .

Hey, we're getting money back this year. The refund of the telephone excise tax is because the Spanish American war is finally paid off. Only 100+ years!

Are you saying if the war in Iraq ended I would get a big check from the IRS?

not if you qualify for an Earned Income Credit, because those "taxpayers", (you know, the ones who are getting a raw deal while the "rich" are getting all of the tax breaks), typically get more back than they pay in.

No pyramid schemes?
No war?
Force the education bureaucracy to be responsible with my money?

Woo hoo to all of that. Not that any of that will ever happen, but you can dream.
