I also upped my protein intake, but I'm trying to err on the side of caution with that because I have damaged kidneys and don't want to overload them.

Weight training is an excellent way to burn calories as, unlike CV training, you continue burning calories for a number of hours after training as your body is using energy to repair the damaged muscle fibres. There is no question that CV training improves your VO2 Max and your general fitness but there is a school of thought that weight training is as good as or even better at burning calories than CV training. There is certainly no more efficient way of loosing fat.

I would agree that as you lift heavier weights the number of calories you burn will increase, however this will only apply to a point. If you are lifting such heavy weights you are only able to complete 3 sets of 2/3 reps with good form then I would say you will not burn as many calories as you would if you were completing 4 sets of 6-8 reps and reaching failure at the end of the last set.

Hope this help and enjoy, training is good!!!

Only if you're putting more effort into the work. Also, you'll gain ore muscle if you eat protein. Like meats or nuts.
If you're just trying to burn calories, sprint as far as you can, then stop for a rest. Then keep doing that over and over. You'll burn away like lightning, not without a lot of pain though...Otherwise just do long distance jogging I guess.

Yes.

Force = Mass x Acceleration.

You are using the same movements or exercises with a larger mass, more energy or calories are required and used.

Cardio and weight training is the greatest consumer of calories using primary and secondary energy stores.

If youre wanting to burn calories, the best way is cardiovascular excercise, so running, rowing and things like that. Weights are used for gaining muscle which is a whole different story!!

People who plan their weekly meals will be more successful at losing weight than people that don’t. Plan your dishes to incorporate healthy carbs such as sweet potato and wholegrain pasta, vegetables and lean proteins, buy all of the ingredients in advance and don’t be tempted you can eat out or order in.
