Universal Studios in Orlando is better, so if you've visited Universal in Florida, pass on Universal Hollywood. Check out Venice Beach if you're looking for something else to do.

I live in LA, but I've also lived in Florida... The Universal in Orlando is bigger and better, Universal Hollywood doesn't have the Islands of Adventure part... The only thing that Hollywood has that Orlando doesn't is the real working Universal Studios backlot and the studio tour, but it's really not worth it, the tour sucks... I'd reccomend doing a studio tour at Warner Bros. or Paramount, they cost about $35.00, but they are so worth it and because it is now the off season you will be able to see a lot more of the lot and the sets (although you wont run into any productions...) One of my favorite things to do in LA is drive up Benedict Canyon Blvd. (in Beverly Hills) and then drive Mullholland Dr. There are spectacular views of both the city and the San Fernando Valley from up there. Another must see attraction is the La Brea Tar Pits and the Getty Museum. And you can't forget Santa Monica and the Peir and Venice Beach and muscle beach. I'd also reccomend if you have time, driving up the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) to Santa Barbara.

Since Universal Hollywood is a lot like Universal in Florida, you might want to consider taking a more authentic studio tour, such as the Warner Bros studio tour or the Sony tour of the old MGM studios.
Here's a site that lists all of the studio tours in the L.A. area: http://www.seeing-stars.com/StudioTours

Nope, Hollywood Studios is owned by Disney and it used to be called MGM Studios. It is located at World Disney World in Orlando, FL. Universal is more fun if you like thrilling rides.

If you have been to Universal Florida, then you can skip the original in Hollywood. That is, UNLESS you are really into the Hollywood thing. You can actually see some sets that are used on a regular basis for shows from the past, as well as currently shooting. For example, you can drive down "Wisteria Lane" in your tram, see the Munsters house, the Psycho house, etc. Don't plan on seeing any celebs, though.

Universal Studios is great. It is probably not the same as florida because here they have the famous tour of all the movie sets. Some of the rides here include Back to theFuture (that one was fun) Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster and the Jurrasic Park ride. plus many other attractions like the City Walk and special effects show.
