I keep getting answers about the Bible not following the law of physics or it was written by a bunch of liars ( 40 people lied about Christ and his teachings?????) There's too much going on today - look at the world and read the Bible - doesn't anyone besides Christians see that the things of the Bible are coming to pass? Can't people see that as in the days of Noah, things are getting worse? We are accepting in this society things that at one time we thought and I mean just about everyone felt was wrong. Abortion was wrong, homosexuality was wrong, having babies out of wedlock was wrong - Now it's alright for all of these things to be alright - there is no shame. The Bible tells us right from wrong and it does not give any exceptions - so what's happened? There's chaos with a God in heaven - I don't even want to think about what it would be like without God - I think maybe he's allowing us to hang ourselves.

on the contrary - if there was no god, not nearly so many people would be committing horrendous crimes in the name of him!

First, what 40 people???? There were not 40 people who wrote the New Test... they can't even tell us WHO wrote it.

Nostradomus made accurate prophecies. So did the Incas and the Aztecs.

The funny thing about all of this is when people talk about the "chaos" in the world. Yet the majority of it is caused by those in Mainstream Religions - mainly Islam and Christianity. Consider this - in America close to 85% claim to be Christian. So who's causing all this chaos here? Odd thing is, I don't recall seeing in the Headlines that Pagans are on the rampage or the Atheists have gone "Postal"....

Abortion was not wrong. Having babies out of wedlock was not wrong - otherwise Jesus would NOT have been allowed at Synagogue.

The Bible says it's alright to own slaves - so I guess you're saying no more Abortion, but buy the children and make them slaves??????

Does it take the threat of a "God" to make you do what's right?????????? Now THAT is scary.

Well I do not want to sound insulting but you have really no idea of what you are talking about. First of all the naivety of the 40 people. Throughout the course of history a hell of a lot more than 40 people have lied about. Whole governments and nations have lied and still do. Just read the diplomatic history of WWII and find out about liars and numbers. Kids out of wedlock patriarchs of the Old Testament kept harems; they sell their daughters and keep slaves. Adultery has nothing to do with the bible anyway. It was not condoned by any ancient culture. At best it was tolerated. And how are things getting worse. Do you have even the faintest concept of what life must have been like in the bronze and later Iron Age? By fourteen girls were married and had at least one child. Child mortality was as high as 4 in 5 kids did not survive birth, and again 4 out of five never passed the age of five. No medicines no law but the right of might. King David kept a harem of over 300 concubines. Do you think there were no illegitimate children born? Women had no rights nobody had any education or social security. Nada. You got sick you did like a dog. Life was worth practically nothing. There were no rules of engagement. You always wiped out the opposition. Whole villages and town and cities were completely and utterly devastated by untold butchery and barbarity. You would not last 2 days in that environment and you tell me that with today's science, world awareness, the UN, International health organizations and medical care, world news coverage social security, the list is endless of how much better this era is from anyone in the past. This is even better than the sixties. You must be delusional if you think that a few abortions (which by the way date back to the Iron Age) and out of wedlock affairs are really on the top of priorities of God. And by the way Jesus had nothing to do with it. We only have what Paul tells us and he did not know Jesus. If it wasn't for Paul who singlehanded established Christianity we would not even be aware of His existence. There is a very good probability that we would worship Mithras as the one true religion.

I believe there would be less chaos in this world without religion. No god means no crusades, no spanish inquisition, and no 9/11.

PS... you can't believe 40 people lied? Just look at the Bush administration, 40 or more people lie all the time.

"The bible tells us right from wrong and doesn't give us any exceptions" - really? So according to the bible if your son is rebellious, you should kill him. Do you have any sons who have ever been rebellious?

And to imagine a god who is just allowing us to "hang ourselves." What a horrible diety. What kind of parent is it. "If enough people don't kiss my asse, I'll make them suffer." If that's the best you can come up with, why would having HIM guide the planet put us in good hands? We're better off by ourselves.

Things in the Baghavad Gita are coming true too.

Maybe I should become Hindu.

Or maybe you should realize that the reason there is chaos in the first place is because there ISN'T a deity.
