Go by how often they preach on "stewardship," and how well fed you feel spiritually. Do you feel that they taught you something that you didn't know, or evoked a feeling in you you never had, or made you feel closer to God, inspired you to do something? That's a good preacher. One who wants your money preaches on stewardship a lot, and how giving to the Church is so important. Yes, it's expensive to run a church, but you shouldn't be reminded of that every time you step foot in that church.

Any preacher that preaches the gospel of prosperity is preaching a false message. there is only one gospel and this is the gospel of Jesus Christ. If any one spends in inordinate amount of time on money, then watch out! Every church and every ministry needs money to operate, and it is not wrong to make an appeal for money during the service. With a lot of preachers, however, more time is spent stumping for money than talking about Jesus. This ought not to be. I do most of my preaching in prison; therefore, I never bring up the subject of money because inmates have no money to give me. Even when I preach in a none prison environment I stay away from the subject of money. My advice to you and everyone else is to never send any money to any ministry without checking them out first. All tax exempt ministries must keep records open to the public---they are not private corporations.

Tithing is from the Old Testament it was a "have to" law to support the priests of the Jewish faith.
Today we as Christian are under a "New Testament" a testament of giving to help others. There is nothing wrong with members who attend service "helping" to support the Pastor, as a matter of fact the Bible teaches that Christians are to help, but not to the point that it takes food out of your mouth or your families mouth. And it drives me crazy when a "church" talks about money in the Savings, if there is money in the savings then you are not doing a Christian Work, There is more but I won't go into it here or now. If you want to know more just email me I will try to help.

Jesus tells us to beware of the "fruit" of people. What people believe will generally be seen by the way that they they live, the words that they speak, etc.

When they start buying an airconditioning unit for their dog's kennel, then you've probably been blinded by them for too long now..oi vey!

We have a brain and intellect, so let's use it and not be so easily pulled in by the shongsters.

Tithing is not just about money go back to Abraham he went to battle and God alouded him to win and God gave him the spoils of the battle and then God delt with Abraham to give a tenth to a fellow call Melchiscet, Abraham (realized) that this person served the same God he did so he gave him a tenth which consisted of food, clothes, cattle, land, so it is not just about money. The word says as he purposes on your heart God loves a cheerful giver so if God has purposed you to give then give if not don't.

The bible does talk about giving tithes and offerings... let the greedy preacher do with that what he will.. you will get your reward and God will deal with them accordingly. Your faithfulness to God should not be dependent on a man.

Don't be silly they all want your money. What do you think they just preach to hear themselves shout. Each word is a shout for that 10%.

Usually, when they try to make you scared - that's a red flag. People who prey upon your fears are usually in it for the temporal power/money thing.
